This is meant purely constructively, but Ryu-Oh's hull was of a paler (blonder) wood, with finer graining, as can be seen by watching episode 2 "Here comes Aeka" of the OAVs.
On a tangential note, I think that episode has one of the best dubbed lines in anime in general, Aeka, saying "THERE you are, you heinous criminal battleship!"
