I can make them to sell, but I would need a few details from you (when you need it by, color scheme, your head size, etc...) before I could get you a price on it.

That's crazy...CQB has always been one of my favorites.

How did you do the visor? Me and a couple of friends are making Halo suits and we cant seem to find anything helpfull on how to make the visor reflective so that no one sees in but you can still see out.

AngelCostumes In reply to HarrowMoonshadow [2011-05-10 07:52:15 +0000 UTC]

Do a search for "HJC Visor" on ebay. They are a certain type of racing helmet replacement visor that generally run around 20-30 bucks for normal sized ones, up to 40'ish for the over-sized ones like the one I used for this suit.

Ah thats brilliant but it may pose a problem for me as i am making an EVA helmet.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AngelCostumes In reply to HarrowMoonshadow [2011-05-10 20:09:00 +0000 UTC]

The EVA helmets have to be vacuum formed...no way around it really.

HarrowMoonshadow In reply to AngelCostumes [2011-05-10 23:24:01 +0000 UTC]

Vacuum formed?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AngelCostumes In reply to HarrowMoonshadow [2011-05-12 01:22:15 +0000 UTC]

It's the process of heating acrylic plastic, placing it on top of a buck (which would be your original piece that you want to replicate) and then applying suction via a vacuum to form the piece.

lol, well yeah, the staff actually invited me down to the convention to be a cosplay guest...gotta keep up on that

But no, let me know if you have any questions or anything...the 405th is a great resource, but really, the more you do it (pepakura), the better you get...experience is super important.

But none-the-less, good luck!

hope that convention didnt dissapoint you, when concomics comes to my state its boring and lame, they even give you a box like ¨happy meal¨at mcdonals, paying extra XD its soo retarded cuz the box contains practically nothing.
yeah, im doing my first armor right now, master chief, i became member of the 405th i m under the same username

rolfed at the ¨the more you do it (pepakura) the better you get¨ so true in so maaany ways!
cheers

I actually loved the convention...it's a total difference scene than here in the US, so that alone really made it worth it. My fiance and I were trying to come back sometime soon because we had such a good time.

And let me know if there are any specific questions you have on the armor building process...I've done 4 of these suits now so I can give you some tips or specifics if you need any.

wow, im actually glad to hear that, and its really surprising, i dunno why they dont put the same effort to the event they bring to my town... i uess that its becasue they spend all the money on guadalajara, and when it comes to my town, we get the leftovers XD.
if youre coming next time, ill go for sure to meeet you and have some pics.

maybe with my halo armor too XD

How'd you make that?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AngelCostumes In reply to Speedynat3 [2010-08-06 03:51:06 +0000 UTC]

It was actually built from card stock and then reinforced with fiberglass and Bondo to smooth it all out.

I don't know if you know about the 405th or not, but there is an entire forum dedicated to Halo costuming.

This looks friggin badass.Youre actualy one of the rare people that actuly make CQB relate armor.Im making armor myself. It sort of a mixture of things. Its gona have(or is suposed to have) and ODST helmet,EOD chest,ODST leg shins,CQB shoulder and Mickeys ODST shoulder plate. I know, its srt of a big mash up but it works for me. BTW:Good luck with the BR.

I did this build last year...but now I've seen Halo Legends...totally redoing the paint job and torse/shoulders to make it close to Daisy's Mark II CQB

But good luck with yours, both of them!

Rusten In reply to AngelCostumes [2009-06-15 19:37:58 +0000 UTC]

No problem! Bling linked me to your pic. Its pretty epic.

May I ask which model you used? Well, I guess thats assuming you pepped it...

I've pepped a Mark VI Helm, and 4 chest pieces because I can't seem to get the sizing right lol. I've got my 5th printed out and hopefully I'll get it right this time lol. The 4th was barely too big...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AngelCostumes In reply to Rusten [2009-06-16 11:54:34 +0000 UTC]

The helmet was the HD CQB model (the newer one...can't remember who did the modeling on it though) and the rest of the armor was Robo's pieces except for the shins...the shins were the HD shins.

A lot of people waste their time building the full HD models, but there really isn't any point, as a lot of the fine details will be lost in the Bondo'ing process, which is why I used a lot of Robo's pieces...easier to build but still retain the smoothness without much post-work.

Also, for the scale, I don't know for sure how big you are, but I'm 5'10", 150 pounds...athletic build, and the scale I used was basically a 20-30% decrease from the original Master Chief scale...I would suggest trying a forearm piece or something small like that to get an idea of what fits, and then apply that same scale all over. The only piece you'll really need to watch is the crotch, as Spartans have impossible proportions (tiny waste lol).

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Rusten In reply to AngelCostumes [2009-06-16 20:30:31 +0000 UTC]

Lol thanks!

That helps a lot actually. I really wanted the HD models for more detail, but like you said, I'll lose a lot of the detail with Bondo.

I'm about 6'3 and 160 lbs, so the problem I've been having for scaling is just that I'm so skinny! My last chest I built was only too big because the shoulders were about 1 or 2 inches too wide.

I'm currently sprawled out on my floor folding and gluing away, I really want to get my suit finished.

Thanks!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AngelCostumes In reply to zaphyro [2009-06-08 02:28:53 +0000 UTC]

It's a card stock base, with fiberglass backing to harden it, and Bondo to smooth it all out.
