You just need a little knowledge about how to make something in digital, but you don't need anything special. You can use Gimp or Photoshop, and for exemple i didn't use a tablet for this one. Two spheres, few textures for the planets and the space. Finally i added some effects like the distorsion on the textures (to fit the spheres), color adjustments and added shiny stars.
