Description Spent & shattered at last[time to turn into potpourri?]
...I thought I'd end our rose cycle with my favourite rose image in Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night"s Dream'[Act II,Sc 1]
...here's Titania[the Queen of the Faeries]in her enchanted bower.......

"I know a bank where the wild thyme blows,
Where oxlips and the nodding violet grows,
Quite over-canopied with luscious woodbine,
With sweet musk-roses and with eglantine:
There sleeps Titania sometime of the night,
Lull'd in these flowers with dances and delight;
And there the snake throws her enamell'd skin,
Weed wide enough to wrap a fairy in:..."

[William Shakespeare]

The depth of your work is truly inspiring. It takes an act of will not to favourite every piece...

And your inspirations seem to echo my own. This makes me very happy.

beeeautiful. i love your presentation - the border around the rose petals, instead of just a drawing of the rose alone.

Of the others, this is my favorite. I think it's because it stays next to the warmer colors like orange and red(sort of). I love the way the oranges streak throughout it near the base of the petals. Don't know if that makes sense.

Beautiful...
What is it about roses? They inspire and comfort. They look just right with few or abundant petals. They smell wonderfully and nod approvingly and their colours are all sweet or dramatic or pensive....what is it about roses?

Thanks so much....Roses are almost perfect, aren't they?I love this time of the year..all the spring roses are out...& it's just divine*sigh*..I just wish I could paint their beauty...but at least, when I make potpourri...I can smell them all year!

Oh, Potpourri is wonderful...I have some 'tea rose' room spray from South Africa, and have handmade rose soap. I must have roses around me. The hub gives me roses now and again... He bought me several rose plants for Valentines day one year!

I was given a copy of a french book on 'scented delights'..& have been obsessed ever since!I have an elizabethan recipe which I've never been able to try..,,,'take 24 pecks of damask roses'(I think that's about a barrelful!!)...but I've made some of the easier ones...a 'tearose' spray sounds lovely...I love the classic tea scent!.....lovely way to save our roses!
