… yes, this song: www.youtube.com/watch?v=p47fEX… . I wanted something Spanish for this title and couldn’t think of anything better. It’s a pretty darn good song and actually kind of fitting for my OCs and me. (once you’ve had a taste of OCs, you’ll never be the same…)

Back in October last year something (bad) happened and I was resolved to start something new. So I scavenged DA for art challenges. I wanted to do the 30DayOTPChallenge and felt inspired to do something for the “dancing” prompt… but then I noticed that some of the prompts are too much for me (in other words: I'm not sure if I'll continue with this). So I was meaning to do the color challenge instead and decided to draw something for the “red” prompt… my OC in red clothes. These characters here are my OCs Ramona and Haroldo whom I’ve drawn dozens of times (yes, they are a couple). Their names are Spanish and I kind of disliked the fact they hardly looked Spanish (nor did their clothes) while I actually find Spanish fashion very pretty. So then I thought about making something Spain-inspired with them. Ramona in a typical flamenco dress, mostly red because of the color challenge idea and Haroldo in a mix-match of classic flamenco clothes and modern wear (I didn’t want to give him purely classic clothes because unlike Ramona he isn’t a good dancer so it’d have been awkward). For the background I did research on Spanish gardening. The pigeons are turtle doves, a species that, what a surprise, occurs in Spain. The reason why I chose turtle doves instead of other pigeon species is because turtle doves are, according to Birdlife International, threatened (massive decline in population). I believe many have never heard of that species, so I want to raise awareness that these beautiful animals are endangered.

…and that is how this picture happened. Mashing different ideas together into one picture is my type of la vida loca. It’s been a long while since I’ve last drawn something in this style (and this picture took me way too long but hey, I finished it eventually)
