This image is meant to represent Winter. Her mask is a fox, I was initially going to go with an arctic fox, but I wanted the orange to pop against the blue and I had already done a white rabbit mask for Spring Spirit.

I have to say, this piece is totally beautiful!
I gave vision a 5 star rating because it captured the meaning of what winter is, the snow flakes falling around her as her hair is blowing in the wind is a great touch to the piece. The other categories a five star as well, I am sure the process was a long one from concept to finish. I am curious as to what happens in the processes of doing something like this.

For my process I tend to draw multiple sketches of my concept and then choose the one I like and go with it. For hair I just let my hand do all of the work and do natural flowy movements on the tablet and whichever Sketch I do that looks the most natural or unique for the character is what I go with. I like to think a lot about complimentary colors and I do a lot of experimenting with brushes.
I usually don't commit to the first sketch and something interesting about this portrait is that she went from straight hair, to extremely curly hair, to a geisha hairstyle, before she got to this semi curly-straight hairstyle.
