Sorry for the angst it's not like me at all, but don't worry I'll be my own angry self in no time. Lookit him go all "boohoo I wish I could paint better!" XD sorry couldn't resist. I don't know if I'm just projecting my own thoughts into it b/c of what one of my guys suffers from, but it almost looks like this guy just got molested or something - something about the pants being loosened gave me a somewhat strange feeling. Unless he's just undressing to go to bed, and suddenly broke down into tears.

not only is it the subject that is excellent. for me its the way you have got the lighting on the windowsil and window frames..its such a soft finish to an already excellent piece

great lighting and emotive work
crits + suggestions:
- the thumb is broken, for the lack of a betterr word, it need to bend in a bit more at the palm joint.
- the body is done extremely well, however the neck is too short and the head is too small (not to scale).
- unless the guy has a long body in general, that kinda pose requires a little more of an arch in his back, or his knees to be raised higher.
i love your lighting and tone, as a suggestion if you threw a bluer highlight on his skin, i think that would add to the mood.

I already made the changes I saw worth making to this. His thumb doesn't need to be crooked unless he's grabbing his face(?) I see what you mean about the highlights though but from experience I know that it would kill the skin colour so I won't even try it.

Well I think that is actually good thing to change the subject. It shows how much you can handle other things too amongst the originally styled ones.
Like this one here. Good, now I know that you can also express sad and depressed feelings too in your art.

Thanks to you too that kind of comments are much more helpful than people complaining how they feel oh so "uncomfortable" about something and never reveal what I should improve. (that gets on my nerves sometimes it's like "this picture sux but I don't know why") As I said in the above comment I made an edit to this and at the same time I made his thigh skinnier. I like making art that's diffrent to what I usually do and I usually try to push my art in new directions. The bad thing is that sometimes I feel like the thing people want me to do the most is quite limited so I'll often have to ignore everyone and just do what I feel. It's not easy on my brains.

No that's okay, your comments are always so constructive but I have to think about the changes I make to my artwork instead of just doing them because somebody says so. For changes like this photoshop's measure tool is my friend. Measured from his collarbone to elbow if he stood up his elbow (not his hand) would be around his hip and that's about where it should be right?

The bottom of his wrist should be about level with his groin, but if that looks too long then his fingers should be about level with his groind - it's all about rial and error when it comes to proportions without a reference

[link] That's quite useful for getting proportions right. Whenever I start a picture of a person in a pose that I've not done before, I tend to take a few digital photos of myself in that pose or ask someone else to let me photo them - it's a good way of getting a feel for the way the body works and the positions of the limbs

Well done picture technically and also when it comes to mood of the image; it makes me twice sadder to see him so sad. You gotta make a happy-piccy of the same guy someday. ;^; But hey, I see so many pictures of people that are technically well done but have no emotion or mood in them. This picture definitely has it.
