The Martian Federation's participation in the Second World War was limited to testing Earth's defence and studying the human race, while preparing the Great Patriotic Invasion of 1971.

The common infantrymartian's equipment was, even at this time, far superior from anything known. Their laser rifles never needed reloading and were able to disintegrate any living being in less than 5 seconds. Their amazing fleet of flying saucers were able to destroy any type of armor without any difficulty. The fighters themselves were motivated professionals wanting only one thing: exterminating all trace of the human race.

Their fleet was fully operational by 1838, so it is unknown why they waited more than a century before launching the operation "Mars Attacks!" as portrayed in Tim Burton's movie of the same title. Probably having fun watching humanity fighting itself, as wars between members of the same species was totally stranger to them.
