I do have an actual 15 minute original Christmas cartoon to put up (maybe even longer because I realized pretty late that I wanted to add a little more to the ending), but until I can force Flash to actually export the damn thing and let me put in the background music, I'll upload this.Kevin's walk/run cycle always makes me laugh because he walks like an IDIOT. XD I don't know how they manage to make it not stand out in the show, because I always seem to be caught off-guard by it. I seriously just did a double take because he's even doing it in Jingle Jingle Jangle when we see him walking up to Eddy's tree at the end. IT'S HILARIOUSSS.
This is a small piece of a HUMONGOUS EEnE tributey-thing I'm animating. Like... you'll be lucky if it even comes out this year. XP

In "It smells like an Ed", there's a moment when Eddy's sneaking on Kevin to check his foot size, where it's a close up of Kevin legs as he's walking in his weird duck waddling style. Hilarious!

I just realised I hadn't faved this, and was reminded after seeing ~kik0thek1ller 's new drawing of Kevin. Another good example is in ''Dim Lit Ed'', in the scene right after Edd has run offscreen in frustration. Ok, Kevin is walking, not running, but those stiff, waddling legs are hilarious to watch. Like someone already said before me, I love how all the gaits are distinctive. Even if it looks ridiculous, it comes off intentional, and not wonky.
Have you completed the tribute, or is it still being made? It's been a while, so I've probably missed something.XD

I haven't completed it, I've nearly given up on it because I have no time for nothing. xD I'd still love to get back to it, though, and that is a great example of Kev's dumb legs!

Ah- I see! But whatever you post is always a joy to watch.
Apart from Kevin, the running or walk cycle that keeps me giggling the most, is Edd's gait. I always wondered if he'd ever stumble, and he did trip over in ''Pain In the Ed''.XD EEnE seemed really aware of little quirks and detail like that, using it to its full comedic potential. The show remains one of my greatest sources of inspiration.
Oh- I'm in the mood to post segments from the ''Red-nosed Reindeer'' boards- because of the wonderful action and interaction they portray. You may say it's old, but even back then, you got the characters pretty down path, canon-wise.

They all have official walk cycles, but only the Eds and Kevin really used theirs in the show. XD The others just run normal most of the time. Thanks!

This reminds me of the first ever EEnE commercials that aired on CN, where they showed only the Eds on each oneβs running cycle as theyβre briefly described by the same dude who says βMonday at 8 on Cartoon Networkβ or something like that at the end

I got it when it came out, so it wasn't hard to find. XD It was too difficult to be fun when I was a kid, but since I've recently started finding cheat codes for my games, it's become a lot more fun. It's really true to the show.

I was watching Dim Lit Ed last summer and was like 'WTF' when I saw his walk cycle, I didn't even think anyone besides the Eds had them on the show. I honestly can't believe I never noticed it before then.

Hahaha, I first noticed it in 'If It Smells like an Ed', during that part of the "Eds sizing people's feet" montage where they're just following Kevin as he walks down the lane. Walk cycles were made for everyone, but for some reason only his and the Eds' stuck. In the Jawbreakers video game, I found out Jonny's involves bobbing his head around as he walks, and on the season 2 DVD they showed a few walk cycles, including Lee's (which I remember as her walking like a man, with her hands holding her belt).

Man, I keep trying to remember to look for this while watching to show but I keep forgetting! It's so discrete...

How in the heck do you do the "cell/shaky" animation style?
Do you just draw each frame separate or is there a bigger technique?
I've tried it several times in an attempt to help out but I got tired of failed attempts...

Well, in this loop I redrew him for every frame and the wobble comes from the natural human error of me being bad at drawing the same exact picture twice. XD That's also how they do it in the show, but a lot more professional with a focus on inking. Most of the time, I just make the drawing a symbol, and have 6 frames of the same image. The first two frames can stay the same as you originally drew it, the next two frames should be highlighted and Smooth'd once, and the last two should be smooth twice. I find that looks more like the show because when you redraw it in Flash they usually look like they're shaking instead of wiggling.
Vampiremeerkat uses the "redraw them" technique.

Thanks! I don't think I noticed until I was watching the episode where the Eds are framed and there was this scene with just Kevin walking down the lane, which includes a close-up on his wide-set legs. XD

One of the things in "This won't hurt an Ed", is that he actually has to puts his hand in his pocket just to slouch... almost forcing himself to walk good or better! Then at the end when he is walking into the Nurses' Office he Starts to walk Like he usually does then he puts his hands in his pocket. ..I've seen the earlier discussions , just didn't know where to put it.
