This makes little sense ignoring the 500 year gap between the two characters, Master Chief wearing that armor comes up to a staggering 7 feet tall, with that armor he can lift a tank not to mention it has shielding. If she had the Varia suit it would be an even fight. Β Β

No she can't, here's why.
Samus can lift like 3,500 pounds and that's good.
Master chief can lift 66 tons (135,000 pounds!).
Now MC fight aliens that are as strong and stronger and they have never done that.

I remember reading that MC could only lift 3 times his body weight, so unless Chief is packing the world's largest beer gut, i don't think he lifts that much.

Snockooz In reply to Chakrafox21 [2015-07-21 03:42:50 +0000 UTC]
any i wrote that a long ass time ago.. and i was wrong... However Chief can lift much more than 3 time his body weight. Out of are he can only lift 3 times but Mark 6 he can lift much more.Β In the Halo the Fall of Reach its is stated that a Spartan can lift 3 times their own weight. That's about 1,200-1,500 pound. In MJOLNIR Mark 4/5 the armor doubles the wearer's strength. That brings it to 2,400-3,000 pounds. In the Newest Halo Encyclopedia it stated that Mark 6 increases the Spartans Strength by a factor if 5 over the older models. So 12,000-15,000 pound. That's not adding in Adrenaline. If you look it up you can find a women was able to lift a BMW car off her father. That car weighed about 3,600 pounds. She lifted one side of the car and said it felt like lifting a short table. That women could at most lift 100 pounds in a normal situation. Now add that to a Spartan and things get interesting.

Yes she can and here's why!
Samus Aran was raised on Zebes until she was fourteen.
if you take the scan data from Metroid Prime we get figures for Zebes.
we can use these figures to find out the gravitational force on Zebes.
it was found to be 865.5 times STRONGER than that on earth. she is so strong that she could jump OUT of the atmosphere of this planet with a single leap!
i know it sounds absurd but those were the canon figures that Retro gave us, even if it does mean that Samus could kill Chief with a single bitchslap.
(P.S where did you get your figures for Samus' strength?)

Just as Samus can hit a metal or stone wall at super sonic speeds and walk away just fine.
Chief fell from orbit, clinging to a forerunner door to absorb re-entry heat and act slow his decent somewhat, and landed in wet mud with his armor locked into position so that damage from impact was minimized and was STILL out-cold for hours, armor visibly damaged, also in First Strike Other Spartans falling from something less than Orbit with less protection that that have upright died. this tells that Chief only survived that high a fall because the conditions were just right in his favor.
given that he was outcold for hours, I doubt he was injury-less.
His bones are not indestructible, the quote is "---Virtually--- indestructible". In First strike, after awakening from being knocked out from a large plasma blast, Dr.Halsey listed off his injuries, multiple bone fractures included.
Considering she can jump like 30 feat into the air, I bet a kick could easily take him off his feet, and that a super sonic tackle would be most effecient.. I doubt she'd ever hit with that given the space she'd need to use it, isn't exactly hard to miss something that shiny but still, if.

What really keeps them apart is the difference of the level of fiction between the two characters.
She has at least ten, at least according to the Cinematics in Other M since they bothered to put them in.
So you want to bring up CANNON shield/armor strength?
Samus is, frankly, almost unharmable, it's gameplay that makes it so she IS widely damagable so the game has any sort of challange.
two sources; Metroid Manga, Metroid Fusion.
In the Metroid manga, there are several instances were Samus just tanks like a boss.
Once while a space pirate firing squad fires upon a small child, Samus intervenes to save the child using herself as a human[chozo] shield. the weapons fired seemed to be high powered energy cannons with enough force to cause a large cloud of dust, but otherwise Samus was hit a half dozen times, but the shots would bounce off harmlessly.
Later in the same manga, against Ridley, she remains virtually unscathed by his plasma breath even while it has enough force to pick her up and punch her through a wall thick wall and even THEN she isn't so much as stunned by the blast, or visibly harmed.
The manga occurs mostly before and during the first half of the first metroid game in the timeline.
In Metroid Fusion, the SA-X is a perfect copy of Samus at her "Full Power" (so the game quotes), it's even discussed in the game's cutscenes that Samus in her weakened fusion suit without her specific high powered penetrating plasma beam CAN NOT HURT IT AT ALL. not with Charge shots the size of a person, not with missiles, super missiles, or bombs, nothing. the SA-X's near invulnerable-ness is a damned plot point of the game's story.
With as strong as Samus can get in Metroid Fusion (prior to absorbing the SA-X to regain her full ability) the SA-X can hurt Samus for about one energy tank per shot, not so Ironically it takes about 20 charge shots to bring the SA-X to it's knees.

So her suit makes her superman. But what if chief and samus had equal armors. Its luck strength and tactics vs speed agility and tactics.
I have never said chief could beat her... actually its more the armor than samus her self. Wuthout it and without chiefs suit he could punch her head off.

Phathas In reply to Kyero [2012-12-31 17:07:40 +0000 UTC]
I don't know if they had even armor. so far in the 5 fights she's had against foes with superior armor and weapons than her, she's won them off pure skill.
... Luck?
you mean that quality nearly every protagonist has?
I'm afraid that isn't unique to master chief, the only thing unique about his is that 'cause 2-3 people within the series mention he's lucky, suddenly it's a godsend trait unlike any-other.
Between the novels and games, chief's never actually been lucky enough that I wouldn't say Samus as well hasn't also stuck as lucky too with JUST the metroid games.
It's a combination of the armor AND Samus. because she herself is pretty well a spartan, genetic augmentations for super human strength, speed, reflexes, durability, some very minor psionic foresight, immunities
without suits chief would probably have to wrench her head off with all his might.
while she doesn't have the ceramic carbide plating like he does. what ever the Chozo did also produced a super human capable of surviving impacts that would instantly splatter a human even when she was very young even without her armor, and pretty well be visibly unharmed.

Super power's - Superman
Space Marine type - Samus
Mecha - TTGL

thats a bit of a silly assumption to make.
we KNOW that she lived on that planet since the age of 3 till she was 14, you're implying that she never once used her arms during that time. simply moving her hand above her head in that gravity would prove that she's strong enough to tear him to shreds with her bare hands.
its safe to say that Samus' strength is equally spread in all of her limbs, otherwise her body simply wouldn't function.

OKay we get it, you're a blind fanboy. master chief has Luck, Luckly he'll find something for him to win. Like swooning her, which is why I hate these fuckin pics. Sure Samus would win purely out of advcanced weaponry. But they would easily be friends/allies. there is 0 reason for them to fight. Both are cautious about new foes and won't kill without knowing who they are first.
Or else trhe Arbiter would be dead.

oh blimy, it's been a while since i've been on DA and even longer since i posted on a Chief vs Samus pic. luckily it seems that the ignorant fanboy hasn't dried up.
first of all, happy new year to you.
now then shall we begin?
"OKay we get it, you're a blind fanboy."
hmm, i haven't seen the comment i posted on this pic, but i seem to remember structuring good arguments on why Samus could kill Chief.
"master chief has Luck, Luckly he'll find something for him to win."
Deus Ex Machina does not apply to these kinds of matchups, almost every main character has plot shielding in some way or form. for example the Time lord known as the Doctor is physically inferior to Master Chief in just about every way however due to the fact that he has enough plot shielding to take down a god, using your argument, chief wouldn't stand a chance.
"Like swooning her"
showing your maturity here i see /sarcasm
"which is why I hate these fuckin pics"
you don't have to click on them you know
"Sure Samus would win purely out of advcanced weaponry. But they would easily be friends/allies."
yes, but for the sake of the hypothetical situation, we assume that they're at odds here.
"there is 0 reason for them to fight. Both are cautious about new foes and won't kill without knowing who they are first."
Samus is actually more of a shoot first ask questions later person, and chief was raised with a military mind, usually if a superior tells him to shoot something, he'll shoot (of course he does have common sense as well, as shown in Halo 4)
"Or else trhe Arbiter would be dead."
i'd just like to point out that chief almost shot arbiter at the start of halo 3
"Master chiefs armor survived a drop from orbit."
i've already gone over this time and time again, but i'll do it again cause i <3 you
1) chief was using a part of the ship as a heat shield
2) we have no idea how long chief was knocked out for, however he crashed in the middle of the night and woke in the middle of the day. he most likely had a night of sleep in his armour where the Biofoam healed any injuries he may have sustained in his fall.
"Anything Physicly she does to chief would just break her bones."
i highly doubt this.
i have time and time again posted with proof, the gravity of the planet Zebes (the planted that Samus grew up on).
put simply the gravity is over 865.5 times stronger than ours. she performs a physical feat stronger than chief simply by standing up and breathing in that environment.
if she's strong enough to move in that gravity, she's strong enough to crush chief in any way or form she desires.
"Oh and chiefs bones are indestructable."
i'd like to point out a no-limit fallacy here. simply because a limit has not been shown doesn't mean that none exists. chief's bones most likely can be broken, however nothing in the halo universe has thus far been able to do it.
not only that, but Chief's ligaments have been shown to be able to be snapped (Halo: the fall of reach). chances are that if he's hit with enough force, those ligaments would break and he'd literally be reduced to a bag of bones.
π: 0 β©: 2
Phathas In reply to idiotscampaigninc [2013-01-03 07:26:05 +0000 UTC]
for the last part..
the people claiming chief's bones are indestructible is a quote from the book saying they are "Virtually indestructible" due to the ceramic carbide ossification.
In the Novel; First strike, there is a part where chief, after waking up from being knocked out, is given a list of injuries he sustained in the past few days by Dr.Halsey, bone fractures included.
π: 0 β©: 1
idiotscampaigninc In reply to Phathas [2013-01-05 14:44:56 +0000 UTC]
yeah, the unbreakable bones are one of those things that people like to fill in the blanks in their heads.
similar to the convenient ignorance of chief using a heat shield on re-entry of the atmosphere in Halo 3.
i mean you walk past the damn thing in the first level!

there is also an a screenshot (drawn) found on a monitor In Halo 4.
it's on the Forward unto Dawn, in the second room of the entire game.
They also leave out the part that he landed in mud, came down at an angle, was knocked out for hours, and armor visibly damaged from when we last saw it in Halo 2.
Question.
do you think that's more impressive than.. say hitting a stone or metal wall while moving at super sonic speeds while suffereing absolutely ZERO afflictions from the impact?
π: 0 β©: 1
idiotscampaigninc In reply to Phathas [2013-01-06 15:54:39 +0000 UTC]
that kinda falls to game mechanics when you consider what happened at the beginning of Metroid Prime.
then again, being thrown into a wall from air pressure changes is normally fatal to the average person. so surviving that only to start leaping around as normal is in itself a feat.
π: 0 β©: 1
Phathas In reply to idiotscampaigninc [2013-01-06 17:53:29 +0000 UTC]
we don't know exactly what caused the malfunctions at the beginning of metroid prime.
might have been the mass electrical surge, or a combination of both the impact and the surge.

Chief still has the better story imo tho. Love samus and lets not mention Other m samus.
