Though I did adjust the contrast a bit with levels in PS, I decided to upload this one since it's more true to how it actually looks.So I was hangin' out with and the other night, and we were just hangin' out drawin' stuff with Hetalia season 1 playing
So 4-5 hours of Hetalia/boredom lead to this.I intended for it to just be a sketchy thing to practice some traditional pencil shading on, but then this happened, hahaha.... But hey, not complaining!
Shading with a 0.7 mm lead Clear Point Papermate pencil like a boss
Screw you fancy art pencils! 
My hand and fingers were like... black after this. Though I did clean off my fingers a bit after every time I smudged so it wouldn't get lead where I didn't want it. Took a minute to wash all the lead off my hands!!
Oh Romano, why does all of my drawing inspiration seem to go to you...? I have requests to do you see~...

Nice shading I like it when people use shading in their art instead of colors, shows off more skills.
You can use q-tips to smudge if you do't want to blacken all your fingures, some kits come with a little smudge stick which feels like newpaper

Hmm, that's true... but I feel like I wouldn't be able to... aim as well? with a Q-tip than my fingers. Haha I'd probably not control it as well. But I'll at least give that a try next time, thanks for the tip!

I can't believe you did this without a smudging tool... .O.
I can only imagine your hands would be black though. XD
You can use that to help you shade sometimes though. :'D
You can use the blackened parts of your finger and rub on your drawing where you want to shade. :3
Obviously you don't need that but it does work.

And that's true! I actually did that a little some places, like on the lapel of his jacket where I just wanted a tiny bit of shading but still to be light, I just used leftover lead on my fingers, as well as smudging it from the shirt/tie since I did that first

How Alyssa prepares to draw - "Just grab any pencil, and sure it takes me longer to sketch it out, but hey, it'll be worth it 'cause it'll get infinite favs~ then I'll scan it whenever I want and color it on the computer~"
How I prepare to draw - "First gotta get my iPod out and make a playlist (assuming I know what I want to draw and I'm not bsing like usually by listening to whatever then sketch what comes to mind until I find something I like, THEN I make a playlist) NOW I gotta get out my reliable .5 and .3s and 2 or 3 pieces of paper. Sketching doesn't take long, and now it's time to color. HM... watercolors, marker, colored pencil, the rare and elusive pastel, or do I wanna wait eternity and make it digital? Once I reach a decision, gotta get the stuff out and organize it all somehow.
NOW I CAN COLOR.
Once it's done, I have to put everything away and clean up, 'cause I can't have all my resources on the computer and since they're not infinite, they will eventually run out."

Ah, I figured something like that. That is probably what's making it look a little off to me still, but can't really fix it now x'D I'll just have to do better next time!

But, ooh, no, haha I could never do anything like this with charcoal! This was just done with a mechanical pencil x'D I did try charcoal once, and it really is hard to balance and manage!! D:

lol yeah and the teacher didn't even look up and said no so I took my seat careful not to touch anything and she asked a question and people put their hands up and I did too. She looked around for someone to call on and she reached my hand and her face was:
