Ahhh... thank you again, Steve! I'm glad you liked it. And I am so glad I named it as I did. Maybe that is part of the reason you find it mysterious?

Thank you, Big. Got Breezy's splint off today. Her leg looks good considering that she now has a rod and plate in her leg. The stitches (well, staples) start at her knee and go to her ankle. I put the Elizabethan collar on her because she was biting at the staples, and the poor thing, bless her heart, she was so timid with it that she'd just stand in the middle of the room and drool. She was afraid to go around anything. of course, it really cuts down on her vision and she's really cautious anyway. So, after a bit I took the collar off her and now all I have to do is look at her and she stops licking and/or biting. Her foot is still really swollen, but it seems everything works fine. Found out she's 136 pounds right now... we need to get her back to around 120.

So... all's well that ends well.

Love and hugs,
Anj

now that is a big dog...

I hope she heals well and quickly...

and doesn't rip out the staples...

you know you can ice her for the swelling...

Hi, Big,

Yup... she's big and she still has two more years of growth to go. She'll be somewhere between 160 and 200 pounds full grown. In just the last month or so she's put on another inch or two of height. Her butt is still higher than her front end, which tells me she's not done growing it height yet.

Had to put her collar back on her. She pulled out a staple today. Luckily it was the bottom one on her lower leg so it isn't too bad. Didn't ice her... the swelling is subsiding quickly on its own. Besides, have you ever tried to ice a dog that large? Not easy. She's doing much better today.

Love and hugs,
Anj

Yes, she is so much better than I screwed up and left her Elizabethan collar off and she tore out another staple! I take the collar off when I take her with me to pick Ana up... and I don't want her bulling around in the car with the collar. But, tonight I didn't put it right back on her. I wanted to do some grooming with the shedding tool... so I let her out in the back yard without it. I was out there and grooming Simon, who has a LOT more hair... and decided to move the chair away from the back door. Well, it's one of those plastic ones and when I sat down in it, it lifted up on the front and came back down on my toe. I cut the hell out of it. Ana was doctoring me and neither of us was paying much attention to Breezy... and that's when she did it. I put her collar back on then, of course, but the damage is already done.

But I don't want to leave her home alone in the house - she's a bit destructive and is feeling good enough she might do something. And I don't want to leave her in the back yard because she's not supposed to play, run or jump for a couple of weeks. Guess I learned my lesson... I'll just take the collar off her for the trip to pick Ana up from now on.

Naww, horses are easier than dogs. They don't squirm around so much. Breezy is pretty easy - she's definitely laid back. Where the other dogs would have fought me to put the collar back on... she just laid there with a resigned attitude. *grin*

wow...

I hope your toe is okay...

I was standing on one of those plastic chairs when it broke...

Put a very interesting bloody scratch up about 2 feet of my leg...

Well hopefully you can keep her from pulling anymore staples so she can heal...

:hugs:

My toe should be all right if the diabetes doesn't complicate it. As long as I can keep my blood sugar until control I should have no problem.

yeah... damned chairs! What do they think they are? *grin*

Exactly. I'm borderline with diabetic neuralgia - meaning no feeling... so I do need to be careful.

Sigh... my toe is killing me... I think it is getting or has gotten infected. Not sure though. It is swollen, but the way I hurt it I'd expect that. What I'm not crazy about is the redness. Oh well... I had a cut in my hand that got a little red before it healed, so maybe that's all that's going on.
