Hmmm this is not something really "thought"
It's a detail from a bouquet, I turn around it with my eye on the viewfinder, and when I see a interesting compostion I stop, choose the right DoF and focus and shoot.

What sort of lens and apertures are you working with? Is the blue also part of the bouquet or something in the background?

I could not agree more with a comment above about the narrow depth of field on this one... it's amazingly perfect to this photograph, which I normally would never say about a flower photo. But you've made it work for you, with the colours and the curves of the petals. Love teh backdrop though, I would assume you planned that out with the colours, the contrasts because it's just as good as it gets.
