Description I've been working with the great author of the Aona series Simon Williams  on his last book "Summer's Dark Waters". I worked on the cover and there are several illustrations inside.

This is a great picture! You are so talented - I wish I had done this. Where did you get your inspiration? What techniques do you use?

Thank you very much Andrew-Ashcroft!

I usually got my inspiration from the texts the author send me, then I start to sketch children books like illustrations. I end with the cover and it comes naturally to me because I kind of absorbed the story and the characters. Even if I don't have precise descriptions (which was the case for this book), I build the characters myself (with the author's approval of course). If I get inspired by other's work, I'm unaware of it.

For the technique I pretty work as an oil painter would do (I started as a traditionnal artist many years ago before turning to digital). I have a very simple technique: basic brushes and a lots of layers. You can see an example of it on my website cargocollective.com/ankolie/BW…

Thanks again!
