Ariel is considered somewhere in the Victorian era, and I wanted it to reflect the color of her glamour dress and her tail and bra in her mermaid form. I feel like she'd still be marveling at her feet so that's why the pose. Also, I sort of had her hair similar to the sequel movie when she's at Melody's party and she had her hair in a bun, but a little closer to the way they were in the actual time period.
