Nice job on the coloring. You really kept all the tones in harmony with each other. All the browns and blues match together really well. Plus you gave her a tan. Good stuff AM.

My, my, my... guess everythings really bigger in TX

Great colors Annamaria!

I've actually got some stuff I'm working on, but haven't yet posted it here

Once I do, perhaps you could take a look at it and let me know if you'd have time to try your skills on it...

Let me know if that's cool

By the way, are you working on some comic projects now? or is art more of your hobby? Your work is really above industry standards, so breaking in really wouldn't be hard for you.

Cheers,

Why yes... yes... as a matter of fact they, uh, i mean It is... LOL!
How'd you know?!

Thank you for all the awesome comments and compliments! You rock!!

As a matter of fact, i do have a few projects up my sleeve... three comics with brand new studios and a couple of covers for people who have requested them... most will be publishing late next summer. But it is just a beginning, and i am always looking for more stuff, and new people to work with. I would say it is evolving from a hobby. I have always been an artist, but i just moved to the computer to express it this year. I am glad you approve though! I am just taking it slow, so i enter the right way, you know?! Getting in with the right people is key. And i have patients for that. I would love to make this a profession if it can support me.

And as far as working on some of your stuff, sound like fun! Just let me know if it's a collab, or commissions, and i will watch you to know when they come up!

Excellent!!

I'll be sure to keep you posted as I get up my samples, Anna!

This site is a great way to advertise your talents as an on-line portfolio. With your skill level, I'm sure that you'll soon have more to handle than you expected

Actually, I worked as an engineer before diving into comics this year. Its something I've got a passion for.

A commission would be cool. What are your rates for covers/posters?

All the best with your forthcoming projects. Are you allowed to state the names of the studios/project name?

Hmm... so you admit that everythings BIGGER over there...

Well, things are BIG here in Hotlanta too, but probably not as huge as TX

Be cool,

Thank you!
That's funny... I am an engineer too... But I am an Environmental Engineer, so that's probably different. lol.
It keeps me very busy, and i like it a lot (lots of traveling), but i have always had a want to create as well. I am studying to be an architech as well, if i ever get around to it.

I have a special on commissions right now... I'll note ya. I always like to do that on a client basis here on DA. But i am just a beginner, so i dont ask too much. Although, i do know i have some talent...

One new studio i am working with here on DA is [link] I am a 50/50 partner now with the original creator. He thinks i have potential too... He & I are working on two new comics (western style) that should be pretty sweet. We will both pencil I will write, he will ink, and i will color. It will be really nice when i'm done. You'll see!

And yes... I bet things are even bigger 'round here...

Be cooler,

Environmental engineer, huh? Cool.

So you two are generating a western style comic? That should be nice

Haven't met M. Turner in person yet... but I know I'll eventually run into him, sooner or later. He's kinda average height, right? (not some 7ft giant, I hope)

....Checking out the griffinlsair...

Big guns, you say? Uh... nevermind.

Anyway, you asked for critique on your coloring, so here it is.

The good:
The skin looks excellent. The colors for highlights and shadings blend very nicely with the basic color (I personally find this really hard to do when I'm coloring skin), and all the detail you added with the colors is pretty much spot-on. The highlights on the hair also look great, almost photo-realistic. Very impressive.

The bad:
The coloring on the guns seems like a bit of a copout by comparison. Looks to me like you just put a bunch of linear gradients over the parts, which makes them look... I dunno, kinda like Windows icons or something, it doesn't really fit with the way you colored the character. Also, while your coloring technique produces wonderful results, I'm not entirely sure if it really fits the style of the lineart you're working with here... that might just be my personal preference, though.

Suggestion:
Try shading the eyes more. The eyelids should cast a shadow, for example.

On the whole, you did a damn good job here. Personally, I think skin is the hardest thing to color, and you handled that extremely well. I guess you just need to figure out a way to color metal that will fit your style.

Thank you so much for the awesome and comprehensive comments! I think you are right. I tend to stick to a more realistic coloring look, despite what i am coloring... I need to broaden my technique expertise.
And you are right on, with the gun. I seriously took the easy way on that one... lol. I rushed it, and I know it. But metal is difficult for me! This is only my 6th piece to ever color. But i know that is no excuse... lol
I will try something else with metal in it to really practice.
And just for thanks... I am gonna go check out your gallery now! Later!

Well, like everyone says, realism is exactly where you should start if you want to get the cartoony stuff down, so I'd say you're on the right track.

And thanks for stopping by my gallery, much appreciated!

Well it dose need more shadows but looks great any who. The bottom I think would have looked better with noise insted of texture. The hair looks realy good I like it. And nice background. Eyes look good to very sexy.

Thank you!!!
When you say the bottom... what are you referring to excatly? Her shorts? I want to know, so i can fix it!
And thanks on the hair, that is the first time i have used that technique. I wanted to find something that would be cool, but too realistic like, to match the art.
Thanks again, you rock!!

ya the shorts. If you look at denem realy close its difrent stuff all pressed together. So just a texure I dont think conveys the feeling of the stuff. I use a mixure of noise and texure. I will show you later at home if you want.
