Thank you! I make it small on purpose n_n A lot of people tend to "steal" the larger versions and profit for themselves.. so to counter, I just upload small versions, whereas I have the original if that makes sense n_n;

well okay I also like to save pictures I like, but only for my private collections. I would never sale anything I don't own.
also by doing this I can easily see if a person is the real owner. if an artwork looks familiar but the rest doesn't or doesn't even match to it, I can quickly check my PC and so find the real owner and report the thief. actually a win for everyone exept the thief. don't you think?

It's actually not as easy as it sounds. I have a friend who is running a group that is against theft. You would be surprised of what we encounter. It's okay to collect for private collection, but that doesn't mean it has to be the maximum size of the original art. There are those who DON'T just collect for private sake. Some people do it so they use it as a "reference".. which turns out to be tracing. There are many who cannot distinguish between the two. We just have had a case where a commissioned piece was "traced" and being sold on another website. And yes, you can easily see if the person is an owner due to familiarity but you are just one person in the billions of people around the world. And there are thieves who just don't care. I personally rather upload a minimized size. That's my personal preference. Yes, when it's minimized it loses all the details, but that's okay.. To me.
There are a ton of people who has ripped off big artists like Sakimichan and Hellobaby's art and were selling it as their own. They even use it to create iphone cases and such. Hence why most artists don't post fully finished pieces, or they post high watermarked and/or small sized. It's really what you are personally going through. I've had my art passed around, which is fine. But having someone who actually saves your enlarged piece then tries to make money off it is just a whole different level. You may be one person who is respectful, but there are many out there who are not.

no no. original size in not what I want. some people submit arts in over 4000 pixel size. that's overdone.
my personal max is about 1200 wide. if someone submits his work larger (just like my 4000 px example) with no smaller size, I make it smaller myself.
I don't know what's the original size of your work, but 800-900 pixel wide would be fine enough.
I think watermarks are a good thing to protekt an art, but sadly most people place it right in the middle. I place mine in a corner or another place where its visable but not annoying.
yes I know and that's very sad, that people do that. that's a reason why I disable share-buttons. on websides like facebook millions of people can see the works and a back-link to my profile is no protection at all. the more people can see a good work the more people want to steal and make profit.
I can really understand your point, but sometimes people seem to be pretty paranoid. I saw people who can't even draw well so they would never be victims of art theft, but still they put giant watermarks to their works...
and about the reference point: I sometimes do use pictures made by others as reference for my own works, but in this case I am honest and give all credits to the rightful owner of the used picture. if only more people would be like this.
I can understand why great artists left this website.
also I feel sorry that you made bad experiences with thieves, but please don't let the quality of your arts suffer from low size.

see. 1000 pixels or maybe just 800 pixels wide (f. l. t. r.) would be more than enough for the "full view"
and you have your signature on your arts so everyone can see who made it. one has to cut the picture off to remove it and even if someone does do this for commercial uses you can still prove it as yours by showing your original work.
but I guess it's no matter what I say. 2 or 3 honest people are nothing against those millions of people who are not. it is a pitty and that's also the reason why the really great artists leave this place and leave amateurs like me alone. I had so many idols I looked up to, but they all have gone. one by one. that's so sad...

Thanks and that I very true to a certain extent. As we have no right to the characters themselves since we did not create them, we did create the art. There is part of our right as an artist. Also, it was stated that Naoko do not mind such things. Unlike certain companies who do sue.

Depends on the country, but in the U.S. at least, that's not true. For example, I can take a picture of someone else's sculpture, but that photograph is mine, copyrighted by me as soon as I choose to publish it. And online publishing counts.
Fanworks are similar, in that there's the idea of "fair use" of character likeness, etc., especially if the work is published without intent to sell. I think it's when fanart becomes commercial that there's some greyness; plenty of artists get their start (or work as) doujinshi artistis in Japan; I don't think they "make bank," but they certainly make money to cover printing costs, at least. That's just Japan, though. I've never heard about a fan artist or fanfic writer getting sued for writing/drawing characters from any fandom, though. Artists and writers can REQUEST it of their fans, but I don't think there's any legal binding that prevents fair use or other "transformative" methods of distribution.

Photographs taken in public areas are indeed the property of the person who takes them. (Although I'm not sure how that works in art galleries and the like...)
'Fair use' as applied to fanworks is actually a myth. You have no legal protection unless your work actively critiques or parodies the original. Anything else is allowed at the discretion of the owner of the copyright. As you say, nobody (that we know of - although apparently JKR did?) has so far chosen to sue or issue a 'cease and desist', but that is not because they can't - it's because they choose not to, yet. www.business2community.com/ent… is an interesting read.

Wow! There really is a sense of power radiating from her. Beautiful work.
I hope the new anime continues through Stars! I was bummed when I heard it was only going to be 26 episodes. But maybe it'll be renewed if it's popular! (I just hope they're not going to try to cram all 52/60 acts into 26 episodes, cause that would be way rushed.)

This is an absolutely gorgeous piece. I never thought Sailor Cosmos was powerful until she met Eternal Sailor Moon (and maybe "regained" her confidence from her former self?), but in my head, this is her with hope again. Gorgeous.

I am 100% sure she will be because the new manga that is out, it goes all the way through stars. Second episode is Act 2. The first season will go up til Act 26 (26 episodes), which is when Chibi-usa goes back to the future then comes back to stay. I would be surprised if Naoko leaves us hanging with that kind of ending. My bet is 100% on her going all the way through to act 60.
AND SMCrystal is following manga 100%

Well, we'll see about 100%. It's still a bit too early to say that imo. Plus, I dunno if Takeuchi-sensei had anything to do with the anime this time.

Well, there's still a chance that some things will be changed throughout the series. But all in all, I just hope Cosmos actually shows rather than a shadowy cameo.
