Riolu rolled over on his bed. The first night staying at Sharpedo Bluff and it's raining. He sighed. Riolu liked the sound of it, to be honest. It helped him get to sleep, even in thunderstorms. Like the one they were in now.

His eyes were on the brink of giving in to sleep when he heard a small squeak, causing him to sit up really fast.

"Sunny? Did you hear that?" He looked over to his partner's bed, noticing how she was turned over with her back facing him. She usually slept on her stomach...

"What Riolu?" The Vulpix said so softly, Riolu had to strain to hear. It was like she was trying to steady her voice or hide something.

"...Are you okay?" He asked, crawling over to her. She didn't turn to look at him, but instead rolled up into a tighter ball. There was definitely something wrong when she didn't answer.

Riolu peered over her back and stared down at her face. Her eyes were terrified and tears stained her cheeks. He panicked. "Sunny! What's wrong!?"

"Th-the storm." She choked out. Her entire body shivered with fear.

Riolu was genuinely surprised. All the nights at the guild when it rained, she never got like this. Or maybe she did, he was just too stupid to notice. He instantly felt guilty for not realizing it before. "Come here," he smiled sympathetically.

The Vulpix almost collapsed in his arms and she cried. He patted her back and said things like: "There there," or "It's alright. Just some rain." Tomorrow he would have to look into getting some extra boards to cover the outside of their home. He wanted nothing more than his friend to feel safe.

He was confused, as he was supposed to be the scaredy cat, not Sunny. She was always so brave and headstrong. "Riolu?" Sunny asked after 10 minutes of listening to the rain and thunder.

"Mm hmm?" It was all he could muster with his tiredness.

"T-thank you. For being brave for me."

Riolu blinked down at his Vulpix partner, a real smile spreading on his face.

"Of course, Sunny. Anything for you."

Holy shit man. This took me ALL DAY. Backgrounds are HARD.

*cough* Anyway. I've been playing Mystery Dungeon again lately, can you tell? I'm a total HeroxPartner shipper, so I drew this.

I usually suck at lineless art... but I think I may have pulled it off this time.
