He was successful
Here's my Daithi attempting to claim this claimable mare . Hopefully he succeeds, I had so much fun drawing her!
--Story--
Winter was starting to grip the entire landscape more tightly by the day, its icy claws digging in as its breath tried to slice through Daithi's winter coat, and by now everything that had tried to protest against its coming before has succumbed to their inevitable fate. The mustang stallion let out a few puffs as he treaded across the frozen grass that crunched beneath his feet, his breath billowing in clouds in front of him and bits of snow clinging to the feathering on his legs as he looked around at the beautiful yet frosty land. Although there wasn't a lot of snow yet - not even enough to cover the ground, although there was always the promise of it suddenly coming down without mercy - the weather was getting colder and colder, and eventually Daithi broke into a trot to try and warm himself up a bit. He suddenly spotted the small shape of a horse up ahead, who was apparently looking for some grass between the snow and frosty earth, and he pricked his ears when he got closer and recognized it was a mare. She hadn't noticed him yet, it seemed, and he was about to go up to her with a friendly greeting when he stopped himself. He'd never really interacted with mares before, not more than a brief chat here and there along the way of his travels, and he wondered whether how he was supposed to go about it. Were there unwritten rules he had to follow? Would he immediately start courting her, or would he first strike up a friendly conversation while joining her for a quick snack? Or was he supposed to bring her gift, or prance up to her and show off his skills? He decided pretty quickly to go with the idea of a gif and looked around, walking towards what looked like a small clump of flowers desperately clinging to the frozen ground when his eyes fell on them. They had long since withered in the cold Winter reign settling over the land but at least they were still standing, and he carefully picked them. Some of the stems broke and bent as he did, even though he did it as carefully as he could, but he didn't want to risk throwing them away and having to search something els. And so, he trotted over to the mare, holding his head at his own shoulder height so he didn't look aggressive or dominant. She looked up sharply when she realized someone was coming towards her, ears pinned back at first, but they quickly pricked forward when she realized it was another horse - a stallion, specifically - approaching her.
"Hello," she greeted when he stopped some steps away from her, being too shy to come any closer. Daithi said nothing, slowly stretching his neck out and leaning his whole body forward a little until they were nearly nose to nose, offering the flowers to her. She looked at them, tilting her head in confusion, then she giggled softly.
"What are you offering dead flowers to me for?" she asked in a soft, sweet voice, the corners of her mouth tugging up despite herself.
"As a gift," Daithi mumbled past the flower stems then, as if to reinforce his point, stretched his neck out just a little more. The mare giggled again, doing her best not to laugh out loud at the stallion's goofy attempt at being romantic, but she took them from him gingerly with an amused sparkle in her eye. Daithi said nothing, looking at her with big puppy-dog eyes as he admired her elegant beauty, and she put the flowers down on the ground so she could speak to him properly.
"What's your name?"
"Daithi."
"I'm Ginerva," the mare told him, shaking her mane, "It's a pleasure to meet you." Daithi echoed the reply softly, still peering at her with his doe-eyed gaze, and for a few moments they said nothing.
"So what are you doing out here on your own?" Ginerva finally asked, stepping closer so that he wouldn't have to stand with his neck stretched out so much. He quickly pulled his head back, afraid of accidentally bumping her with his nose, then flicked his ears.
"Traveling, trying to find a good spot for myself so I can settle down. And to create a herd," he responded, adding the last part quickly in a mumbled jumble of words that took Ginerva a few moments to figure out. She gave him a warm smile.
"A herd, huh?"
"Yeah."
Again, there was a moment of silence, then Daithi slowly asked, "Aaaand what are you doing out here, by yourself? You are by yourself, right?"
"I am, yes," Ginerva laughed, "Traveling as well, and looking for a herd to join."
"Do you... wanna' travel with me then?" Daithi came back after a few moments of silence. Ginerva smiled, somewhat crookedly in both amusement and a growing affection for this relative stranger as she stepped just a bit closer to him again.
"I'll think on it, how does that sound?"

Artist's note: Ginerva's such a pretty mare, I really tried my hardest on this so I'd have a chance at getting her Those trees may look scribbly but trust me, they were done and redone a number of time!
