Description I don't know the name of the plant.
The story behind this painting is kind of sad. My dear cat friend Ketsy got sick (urinary obstruction) by the time I was painting this piece. It was a whole week of worries, anxiety, vet visits, watching over him hoping he gets well and so on... The doctor called that evening and said the condition was quite complicated. He had low chances to make it. I cried. I had cried since the very first day of his illness, but thinking he surely gonna heal soon. But now I was losing hope. I thought "I have to prepare myself for a farewell...". I cannot believed that this was happening, Ketsy was always so healthy, happy, strong, joyful cat. Some days before, I was painting Violets and he was next to me napping, so peaceful...

And there was this dying flower in the center of the scene I was painting. I said to myself "nobody wants to remember death". I looked at it with compassion and respect, and gave to it all my attention. I made it the main character of my painting.
That was March, thursday 23rd. He passed away the next day.

I miss him so much.

I'm so sorry about Ketsy. One of my cats had urinary tract problems too, though not as severe as Ketsy. Noah made it through several attacks, but then passed away from (unrelated) cancer at too young an age. It's hearbreaking. My thoughts are with you.

I like your paintings very much!

Thank you...
That's so sad. I feel like a child about they passing away at a young age, I just can't understand why.
I only know they were happy while leaving at home. Β

Yes, they had a happy life with us, and I think they're fine now, too. It's very difficult for us though.

I love marigolds, they used to grow up here everywhere here on streets, exactly this orange variety. I have cats too, so I'm sorry for your loss - unfortunately urinary tract problems are always plaguing cats, a friend of mine has lost hers by the same causes :/

Those are marigolds. They are still used in Mexico, for Day of the Dead ceremonies. We have a cat who is 16 and who has cancer. She's probably not got a whole lot of time left. It's real hard. I understand.

I'm sorry for your loss.
I've gone through a similar thing a year ago with my cat, he too was a healthy cat, lived for fifteen years too.
......
I like the piece, but I appreciate more the soul that went into it.

Thank you so much. I appreciate your kind words.
I've lost a cat in 2013 too. She had skin cancer. She lived with me for 14 years. That's a lot.
So I've been through this a few times.
I'm glad to know that they were happy living in the home we gave them.

My cat was very old at the end and we did see he was aged, but what happened to us was worse; apparently he licked some sort of poison and essentially went out to die. Mum saw him lying on the ground in the backyard and rushed over to get him and take him to the vet. He was sent to a pet hospital but didn't survive the night. I just can't imagine the horror.
In the end I think we need to remind ourselves that for all the things we experience and the people we met life is a precious thing due to the fact that it ends. It's moments like these that bring both great sorrow with the death of a loved one, and a sense of warmth from your family and friends.

I'm sorry for your loss. I know it's really sad to lose a pet. I had several pets in my life (and still have) and every time one died I felt a piece of my heart being taken away from me. But then again, I remind to myself that other animals out there had horrible abusive lives while mine, as far as I know, were living a good life.

Also, the drawing is really nice! Looks like a Marigold I think.

I'm so sorry about your Ketsy, my dear. I really am. I understand what you feel, my cat died from an illness that took him so fast. He was always fast and energetic, and one day he just wasn't. He died three days later. I had tamed that cat, you know. He was always so curious as a kitten and I managed to touch him by playing with him. Day after day, he became so close, and he then followed me home, with his sister. She's still alive and has had a few kittens, too
