The 747 is a beautiful aircraft. It is a treat to see one since they are becoming a rarer and rarer sight in the skies at a very fast rate.

I love the 747! It definitely is a treat and I'm glad that Air China, Lufthansa, Korean Air and Transaero are keeping the 747 alive with deliveries of the 747-8. It will be a dark day in aviation when the last 747 is retired.

It will also be a dark day in aviation when the last 747 ever built exits the Everett factory. I predict that the new Air Force One is going to be the last 747 ever built.

And judging by the USAF's service entry and the 747-8's current order book, It seems extremely likely if not almost certain that the new Air Force One or a couple of them will be the very last 747's ever built unless there is a miracle in the form of a huge order and/or orders. It's hard to see that happening with being able chose and order between Airbus' A-380, A-350, and even A-330 and Boeing's own 777 both current and 777X versions and 787.

You can't compare the 747 to any other aircraft. It is an iconic and powerful beauty of the skies.
