It is a good concept adding darkness and drowning as twin perils. Personally I can really only see the one on the left dimly and had to strain to make out a figure of a second on the right. Kristen has a good idea, I would do that dawn approaching to shed a bit more light coming from the rear window. However a full moon or lightning flash really adds more to the drama. Try lighting them from behind possibly thier features will still be somewhat shaded but they can be outlined and a reflection on the water.
Just my thoughts

*nods* I think I rushed this pic. I tried several lighting schemes before using this one. I have one that came out very nicely but is more suited to daytime peril. I may go with that one, as I'm not tied down to any particular time slot for the pic. Thanks for the feedback!

Oh gosh! Those girls are in trouble! Re the lighting, I would have put a tiny light between their faces, really small to just give a little highlight as if lit from outside (moonlight or lightning if it is a storm) just to show their features and add a little drama.

They are indeed. I'm going to post another version with different lighting that I think is better. Thanks for the feedback!
