Constance Badger was epic and badass in the first two books, such an ass kicking machine. Sela I felt bad for I really did I came to really like her.

As someone who is currently reading through all the Redwall books, I just love that you are drawing all the characters. And love your interpretation of them.

And to think, she's supposed to be the Dibbuns' caretaker, but she does such a good job with adults, too.
On another note, geez, this is good. I love how Sela's tongue is flicking out as she screams. Darkly humorous touch right there. Oh, the fear and intimidation!

I never read the books so I can't testify to that. But this scene really showed me how the Mossflower animals really have double standarts when it comes to shit like this.

Which is hilarious when they claim to have the moral high ground. Kinda hard when you pull stuff like that.

"Lord Brocktree's eyes told the otter that he was not about to have his decision
overruled. Swinging forth his battle blade, he stuck it quivering into the ground. "Let's
be reasonable about this, friend. Let me explain the rules. One Badger Lord carries two
hundred votes and his sword carries another hundred. Agreed?""

Yeah slamming a sword in the ground is an act of pure stupidity for any person who even so much as dreams of calling themselves a swordsman, let alone a noble lord.

Yeah, it is. In addition, I'm not certain whether Lord Brocktree had any formal and/or legitimate authority over the people he just met?

Technicly unless he is their feudal lord then no. Which is kind of funny the feudal system and the monarchy seem to always be represented negatively in Redwall. I have yet to see of a King or Lord who wasn't a borderline slave driver. Nevermind the fact that the Mossflower rodents seem to be nothing more than communists.

Indeed. On the other hand, direct democracy of Guosim doesn't seem to be portrayed too positively either.

I have no idea how the author of the books did his research but I suspect that he either did a very poor job at that or had a very Romantisized understanding of Medieval politics.

Maybe he wanted to present Medieval world as he thought it should be instead of as it really was?

So a Mad max, style medieval world where all the feudal governments are evil and the people are helpless and two dimensional villains and lawlessness rule the country and communist comunes are the hit of the day.

So I dunno theres no structure you know? No order of knights that rides around serving justice, no benevolent old and battle weary king, no mighty castles or grand sieges just...randomness. Random medieval stuff, with cute animals.

Well... Redwall begun as series for kids or young adults, so that might be the main reason it was so simple and random.

Yeah a crime is a crime but I doubt her son tryed to kill that mouse he hit over the head. Even real Medieval justice was more just than what Redwall pulled from under it's tail.

BTW, you reminded me of something: Remember all the tributes done when Mr Jacques died? As far as I remember, all had Martin, Basil, Constance... but none had Cluny or Badrang or Gabool... they were his characters as well, they had all the right to be in the tributes.
I am now in a small piece of fanfiction, where my character and his family (Captain Langsdorff Mink, Commander of the Visonian submarine SMS Swordfish) meets the actors that portrait the Redwall characters in the tv show He just took his wife, maid and sons to tour the filmation set... and ends as extra in two episodes!

The first one I read was, precisely, Martin the Warrior: I swear that,at the end of the book (and the final battle) I ahd all my hair standing, I was hororized by such a butchery and never again touched a Jacques book till I got Mariel. And I kept saying: "If Mariel or Rosie dies, I'll NOT continue reading!"
