As a person who never really liked watercolours (because of the way they spill all over the paper), could you describe to me how the hell do you sketch with them? :-D
This looks really lovely!

Thanks! And the answer is: with some degree of patience. Having an absorbent paper that sucks up wet media quickly helps. That way it you can minimize unwanted "spillage." However, some of that spilling over is part of what is unique to watercolor--so you kind of have to embrace it a little bit.
I did the line drawing with a fountain pen first, then laid in the colors after. Depending on how opaque I've put down the watercolor wash, I usually follow up with a touch-up of pen on top again for accent. This drawing took about 30 minutes.

180 gsm should do the trick. Give it a test run first; see how wet you can put down the paint. If it starts to run, apply the pigment with less water, or in smaller amounts.
Good luck!

Very well-done, IMHO....For some reason I kinda wish newspaper articles used drawings like this of scenes, rather than the photos used for stories usually.....

Once upon a time it used to be that way, then publishers figured out how to reproduce photographs for cheap...
Thanks for the kinds words!
