Description
This is my pumpkin for 2014, the legendary Hatbox Ghost from Disneyland's Haunted Mansion.I started doing the 3D carving back in 05 after sent me a link to a true pumpkin artist: villafanestudios.com

So I'm gonna try my hand at 3D carving this year...any tips?

Pick up a set of the metal loop sculpting tools. I got some cheap ones from Michaels last year and they worked great. A big loop peels a pumpkin nicely and smaller ones are great for wrinkles and detail.

Well, you could use just a regular knife, but it's a lot more work and didn't give me as good of results.

So I went and got some sculpting tools. Really glad I did! Those loops are definitely time-savers. X-acto knives also helped a great deal.
