Great work with the lighting and the textures ! Looks like it took a little while to create the tile on the building to the left as well, nice work man

suggestions: better lighting and a bump map in those wins to warp the reflections, also some falloff on those reflections will help the photorealism you are trying to achieve.

Other than that it is a killing job, kickass textures and models.

excelent job.

Is it just me, or does the reflections in the windows somehow look odd?

Anurizm In reply to chain [2004-01-27 09:29:45 +0000 UTC]

yeah, I was going to fix that prob, but I ran out of time. I will more than likely fix/add some stuff in the future

Is that a render or a photo? I really can't tell, excellent work

render

silvert0ngue [2004-01-27 07:17:45 +0000 UTC]

Wow...I really like the use of colour. I think maybe that the trianlge of light on the bottom left side might be better if either left in the shade totally, or else givena slightly warmer tint, moe similar to the one on the right side. The texture and colour together make it look a little less realistic than the rest of the picture...
Anyway, amazing picture. I really thouhg t it was a photo when I looked at it

As I looked the first time at this picture I only thought "This is some boring of some unknown street somewhere in Lissabon." But as I saw that it's 3d modeled I only can think of one thing:

wow, i love the bricks on the floor. i honnestly couldn't tell it was a 3d render until i read the comments and even then i had to go back and see for myself.. it looks awesome. but i don't know what's going on in the bottom lefthand corner.. it's like the wall stops being light and turns into a shadow but something looks off.. also, the sky above the rooftop in the distance looks a little too fake, but other than that i wouldn't change anything, it looks great.

TheSquab [2004-01-26 06:02:05 +0000 UTC]

pretty good, except the white building is a bit undertextured in my opinion..also where it meets the ground is a bit "off", looks placed. The reflection in the window looksa bit "to perfect" and kinda doenst seem liek a reflection. Also the exposed brick on the white building looks to perfectly framed, and doenst look like it was naturally created.

lolly [2004-01-26 05:40:35 +0000 UTC]

Okay, first off, I absolutely love the composotion of it. Very dynamic perspective going on. Second, the texturing/modelling on the stairs down, and the whole rooftops in general is just kick ass. Very very nice.

But, and please forgive me, but I'm back in school getting critiqued every second of every day so I'm more attentive to this sort of thing, but anyhoo, and this is minor, but the areas where the plaster has peeled of the exterior walls and the brick is exposed should be a bit dirtier around the edges of where the plaster is broken? And maybe lower the reflectivity on the windows a little bit. The area looks like it's a bit rundown, but the windows are really crystal clean and reflective. You know what I mean? I don't know what program you are using, but in Max you could also do this. Put in a bump map, a very slight one, that's just a bit of distortion or scrathces on the window material.

Overrall this is solid though, and like I say, those are minor issues, and partially just my personal preference.

Yeah I had a lot of these in mind also, but I ran out of time. I may fix/add somethings in the future because more than likely I will end up reusing this some point

appreciate you taking to time to check it out.

Wow. Just wow. The way the shadows are so perfectly placed, it seems as though you know the perfect tune that brings everything together in a photograph-like deviation.... This is definitely deserving of Daily Deviation. *gawks*
