(RP between me and TickTockPoptart)
Thea opened the door to Drizzle’s room with a defeated sigh, she had made it a routine to check up on him since his return to town, but today she felt lost in thought. She gave a tired nod towards her friend and pulled up a chair next to him.
“How are you feeling today Drizzle? Everything alright?”
Drizzle slowly sat up in the bed he had been stuck in for what felt like an eternity. He smiled, or at least attempted to from under his bandanna, at Thea as she walks through the door and sits next to the bed.
“H-Hey Thea. S-Still feeling kinda c-crummy, but it could b-be worse, I guess...”
Thea gave a small smile in return before looking down at the ground, “I wish there was something I could do about your sickness...but Dane says we have to leave it in the hands of the spiritualists...” She pulled up her foot to rest on the chair and wrapped her arms around her, “I’m sorry.”
He slowly moved to the edge of his bed. “I-It’s not your fault, Thea. I sh-should’ve known b-better than to just ru-run out into the woods blindly like th-that.”
“Then why do I still feel responsible?” She asked, closing her eyes, “Maybe if I had paid attention more...something always happens around this time—But I was foolish and ignored it. And not only did you go missing but Bastina did as well! I scoured those woods for days, I was lucky enough to just find you. But if I hadn’t—“ she paused, feeling her heart ache. “And now you’re sick, most likely Bastina is too, and I can’t do anything about it!” She squeezed her eyes shut, feeling too ashamed to look at Drizzle.
Drizzle moved closer to the edge and reached out to lay a paw on her, “You c-can’t hold yourself responsible for other p-people’s choices. You d-did your best at the time... I-I am s-sure Bastina will turn u-up soon. They’re w-working on a way to get r-ride of this sickness... W-We’ll get through th-this. I...I’m sure.”
“You’re right...you’re right...” Thea nodded with Drizzle’s points in an attempt to reassure herself, and squeezed his paw with her other hand, grateful for the gesture. It made her feel a little calmer. “I guess I’m not used to not having all the answers...” she said softly, finally looking Drizzle in the eyes. “I just wish I knew how to help.”
He smiles a little wider as he looks into her eyes, “Y-You being here h-helps a lot.”
In spite of herself she offered a small, warm, smile of her own, “I’m glad for that at least, I’ll need to make sure I’m back more often.” Thea was quiet for a bit before continuing, “talking to you helps me too. I feel much better...thank you...” Drizzle nodded meekly. “Of c-course...I’m gl-glad I could help you f-feel better.”
She nodded, before letting out a sigh, “I’m still worried about Bastina though. Not knowing were she is is going to gnaw on me. Maybe I should look for her one more time.” She thought for a bit. “Or maybe I could ask the spiritualists. They might know where she is?”
Drizzle nodded, “I-It might be a g-good idea to ask a-around first... the wo-woods are dangerous right now, I-I hear...”
Thea tilted her head, “Dangerous? What do you mean?”
“I’ve heard them t-talking about sp-speckled thuddleys... an-and other creatures...”
Thea’s ears flattened. “I’ve heard of the thuddleys, but I never knew there was anything else, that could be bad.” She thought for a bit, a part of her told her to run back to the forest, if there were more creatures Bastina could be seriously hurt or worse! But, the other part told her to talk to the spiritualists. Rushing in without a plan was equally as dangerous. Thea shook her head, trying to push down the resurfacing worry she felt. After what must of been ages she finally made her decision. “I’ll take your advice then.” She looked at Drizzle, still feeling a little uncertain, “I’ll go and see what the leader of the spiritualists says and go from there. With any luck, I’ll find Bastina before anything else does.”
He nods again, “G-Good luck...! And d-don’t push yourself t-too much ok...?”
Thea gives him another smile, this time she seemed much more determined. “I won’t push myself. I promise.” She was almost out the door when she paused, “Hey Drizzle? Thank you again. I’m glad I was able to talk to you, and I’m glad your safe. I’ll see you when I get back. I’m sure Bastina will be happy to see you again.”
He lowers his bandana slightly and offers Thea a full smile, “O-Of course, Thea. I’m gl-glad I was able to help... Say h-hi to Bastina fo-for me when you find h-her.”
“I will.” Thea waved goodbye before closing the door, and turning down the hall. Now to find those spiritualists...hopefully they could steer her in the right direction...
