Beautiful, surreal and dreamlike. The tree on it's own is a great find. I like the film/grain approach of the image.
It reminds me of a lith print. A look I love.

I love the glare, or however you got that bright light, it looks like it's swallowing up the tree

Hey the person there is a wonderful addition to the final image, it somehow "completes" the composition
There's some things I'd like to ask :
1. The person managed to stay still for five seconds?
2. There's the exif but no focal lenght data, did you use the camera like a pinhole?

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

aobaob In reply to silverroses222 [2009-11-15 10:38:54 +0000 UTC]

1. Yup.
2. Nope, an old manual lens. For some reason the aperture is always recorded as 1.0. Strange.

silverroses222 In reply to aobaob [2009-11-15 11:45:57 +0000 UTC]

Lol ..Is there any lens with that kind of apperture? must be expensive

whiteboardvandal In reply to silverroses222 [2009-11-12 15:23:57 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I can answer those for you really. It's my lens he's borrowed and it's a tokina SZX 28-200mm Lens. It's manual and confuses the exif data so it just tags an aperture f/1.0 and can't figure a focal length. It was probably 3.5 here though.
And yeah, he made me stand there for five seconds. a lot longer actually, because it took him a while before he told me I could move again.

I guess that makes sense
Thanks for answering!
and so you live near Alex?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

whiteboardvandal In reply to silverroses222 [2009-11-13 16:17:04 +0000 UTC]

yeah, he's just a few tram stops away. He's taken a liking to borrowing my lenses. I guess its only fair since he's much better with them than I am. we did that whole night shot together. got my chucks completely soaked.
thanks for adding me to your watch, by the way!

I love how small the person looks in relation to the tree. Also the way in which the person has their back to the tree seems poignant in some ambiguous, inexplicable sort of a way.

Really, really like this piece a lot.

It is fantastical, whatwith the unusually high contrast in peculiar areas and the little flowers at the top of the branches.

Excellent work. Are you satisfied with this one, friend?

Improvement is important, but so is having satisfaction is one's work and getting enjoyment out of the activity.

No probs! ^^
