Hey, look, I made a gift for somebody! This is for the ever-wonderful whom we all love, adore, and worship. She's been a great inspiration to me for the last few years on the dA, and I wanted to pay a bit of homage to her--so I drew her beautiful and rightly famous Sailorastera! *^^*

I've been working on this piece for awhile--it actually could have been finished a week and a half ago, but I didn't have the right purple colors for Astera (I only have like three violet copics, and they're all different shades with vastly different undertones x_X) so I had to make a trip to pick some up, along with some white gel pens to experiment with, and some pastel chalk for kicks.

In general, I like it! I didn't use a reference, hence the really awkward, block-ish hands, but I think it came out alright nonetheless. The proportions aren't too awkward, and I love love LOVE the way the hair ended up blending. There are at least five different colors in there, not counting the white highlights. It looks so nice. I might try to use brighter colors more often in my hair now o.o

I must mess around some more with the pastel chalk until I figure out the best way to blend it (needless to say, I made my fingers very colorful last night).

Also, scanners = poop. They grey is actually black and the background extends all the way across the image IRL, I promise.
