It is a new con, it was its first year this year, BUt there is also Anime North in toronto, which has been running for over 10 years.
i am sure you can find convention of all thigns nearer where you are

Yeah there's a local one and one in Vancouver (Anime Evolution) but I kinda want to check out conventions in other places, once I have the money to travel.

there is a lot of convention in the toronto area.
a few in Montreal
a few in teh maritimes
a LOT in the states
i went to boston a two times for 2 different event.
i will go back to Boston for Arisia this year.
the LA region has tons of events as well..
