Description
I close my eyes and exit madness,
Trade my world for one of sense.
From the blackness fires roar
Like lions on the hunt.

Beneath the flames of cruelty beauty
Dies away, and with hers blow
The ashes of a now forgotten day
When love was more than an ideal.

Through the searing tongues I steal,
A refugee of wars I dare not fight,
To find a calmer fantasy.
Beyond the screams and moans of pain

There's a meadow of reprieve,
Where streams run clear and grass grows green.
I rest in shade, take in the peace,
Until the crackling sounds again.

Then I run on further, into forests
Filled with snow. The Sun descends,
The Moon begins her reign,
And icy darkness mocks the warmth of man.

No blaze dares follow here.
A wilderness supplants the violence
I have known, for what is violence
If not breached civility?

The eyes that follow me,
Palely shining in this foreign light,
Know an amorality more pure
Than the wickedness of human strife.

Into the darkness I descend.
As it envelops thought,
My eyes begin to flicker,
Awake again to the delirium of life.
