Description The First Disruptors

In 2014, a mass grave of these strange creatures dated to the very end of the Permian period was found deep underground in the Russian tundra. Fossilized kaiju are rare, especially from this age, so it was an amazing discovery. Even more amazing however are the implications of such a mass grave even existing. Their bones are warped, and their hides are partially melted, some individuals have even been cleanly bisected. What kind of creature could have done this?

Some experts have also linked them to the great Permian-Triassic Mass Extinction Event, speculating that their underground movements may have caused the eruption of the Siberian Traps, which lead to many other world-altering chain reactions.

Their anatomy is very strange, not resembling any known family of the animal kingdom.

Differences from “Modern-Type MUTOs”:
These are very similar in appearance to the “MUTO” creatures that would appear much later but are different in in many ways.
- Permian-type MUTOs have a tail which is used to store eggs and an ovipositor used to directly deposit them into a source of radiation. Eventually this tail would become smaller and curl up beneath the creature’s underside becoming the “egg pouch” seen in the modern MUTO. The ovipositor of the modern type MUTO is also much longer.
- While the modern MUTO’s armor is comprised of internal, interlocking plates of bone covered with leathery skin, the Permian MUTO’s armor is made of layered plates and is on the outside of the creature’s body.
- The eyes of the Permian MUTO highly resemble the eyes of most other vertebrates, as opposed to the heat-sensing eyes of the Modern species.
- No evidence of an “EMP organ” is present in the older species.

I ought to try it some time.
Might be interesting and unexpected.
