Description Here's a more polished Spider Gwen I drew. Not gonna lie not only have I always liked Gwen Stacy in her multiple iterations, but I really dig her Spider costume. An example of excellent character design and execution.

Love Gwen.  Sexy work on her.  There is a nice smoothness and warmth to the first picture but great details with this one.  Great marker work.

Curious as I'm right now testing with different art tools have you used any other markers before (seeing how costly Copics are yet seem to be the markers all great artists use as the pro standard markers).  I'm hoping to discover cheaper markers that can do just as good work for a beginner before paying for and trying some Copic markers.  Which Copic markers did you use (if you recall) plus how long did this work of art take you to do?

Thank you!
The first drawing took me a little over an hour. Being a sketch I kept technique a bit loose which is probably why there is a "smoothness" as you say to the drawing. This one in particular took me about 3 and half hrs.

I can't quite recall all the markers I used, but here's what I remember. For the skin I used Copics E00, YR00, and E11. Then I used various greys for the suit including N0, N2, N4, C5, and N6. The hair was Y11 and Y15. I believe the blue of her sole was B02. I do remember I used a pink Prismacolor marker for her hoodie and forarms.

Copics are the best quality art marker on the market for a variety of reasons (brush tips, refillable ink wells, smooth and rich pigments etc,.) but there are other markers that with a little effort produce good results.
As I am not rich myself, I usually cannot always afford to buy the Copic brand, so out of necessity I have sought out other types that are cheaper. Here's a list of different art markers I've used to decent results descending in price range.

-Prismacolor Makers (just a tad cheaper than Copics but just as good)
-Studio Series Artist Markers (quality takes a dip here, but still provides rich color and is decently affordable)
-Windsor & Newton Promarkers (quality is solid, and I can get about 2-3 of these markers for the price of one Copic)
-Artist's Loft art markers (the cheapest I markers I've used both in price and quality, but still produces acceptable results once you get a handle on it's performance)

My personal marker set is actually a mishmash of all these different types of markers along with the handful of Copics that I have been able to buy. If you are starting I'd recommend getting cheap markers and experiment to get a feel for them. Sometimes stores will have sales on certain brands so don't be afraid to mix-and-match. As for copics markers I'd recommend saving up for the Sketching Greys pack of Copic markers as a start, and then over time you can start to get colors.

Hope this is helpful in some way to you. I personally love using art markers, and I hope you like them too.
