NOTE: On the left is my first attempt at Mai (back in 2007), right is a new version I made in 2014.

Being born in a wealthy Fire Nation Family, she hates pretty much everything about living. She is truly the emo-kid of the cast, but she's still pretty interesting. As one of Azula's childhood friends, she ends up on the opposite side of Avatar Aang, and she's a formidable foe. She has no power over any Element, but she makes up for it by fighting with all kinds of knifes and darts. Her robe hides numerous blades and small devices that can shoot tiny arrows. She falls in love with prince Zuko at an early age and ends up being his girlfriend after the 100 year war. It's is not clear, but pretty likely, that she later marries him.
As to why I made a new sprite: Who's that one on the left? Why is she so small? Those two questions came to me by looking at the image now. I liked it, back in 2007 and since I was doing an Avatar series, everyone assumed it to be Mai. Well now it's clear. Her hight is now way better (only slightly smaller than Zuko) and her hair has the usual dumplings. She even holds a knife now! She does? Yes, just try your best to zoom in
