I've seen these two interact in the show, and I am now hardcore shipping this pairing. And it has nothing to do with the throwbacks to Zutara either. These are entirely different pairings, and while it would be great to see some firexwater action (since we didn't get it in ATLA), I just love the chemistry that Korra and Mako have. It has a lot of potential

A large part of me wants to ship her with Bolin because I feel like most people would ship her with Mako and I want to give Bolin a chance! But then again, I think we'll have to see how the show plays out.
