hmm, why is it your photographs of flowers have such wonderful colors, and yet, your scans/photos of your drawings are always so dark? For your flower photos, do you adjust the colors in photoshop, or are you just such a pro with lighting and camera settings? Because this drawing in particular could use some work in photoshop, to lighten it and add a touch of contrast.

The scanner does ugly things to the drawings so I take photos of them with my camera. The hard part is that I have to be picky about a non specific light source when taking the pics of the drawings because any strong light will reflect off of the graphite and make a hazy glare. You can see this a little in my drawing "Tinkerbell" at the bottom of the drawing. I usually use a natural light source (the sun) when it's the brightest but take the photo indoors somewhat near the window so that no direct light is actually hitting it. Then I take 4-8 pics (rotating the drawing so that different sides of it are closer to the window). Then I pic the one that has the least glare or at least doesn't have glare in an inportant place, such as the face of the subject. I don't photoshop my flower pics. It's sort of easier to take pictures of flowers than it is of art because I don't have to worry about glare distorting my photos as much. Frustrating!

I agree it is frustrating. I take digiphotos too for my sketches, but I always just use direct sunlight. Usually I can position what I've made so that it's got great light, but doesn't reflect anything - either propping it up a tad, moving around to the other side, etc. I'd suggest trying that, although you're images are more popular than mine, so what do I know?
