Legends of Zelda: Celestial Knight

Process:

Blue Line Pencil on Bristol Board
India Ink/Rapidograph Pens
Scanned
Colored in Adobe Photoshop

The Legend Continues:

Long ago, in a galaxy far, far away... (Oh, come on! That's a staple introduction!) ...there was a planet with a great wealth and beauty. It was ruled by an honest and noble princess, who cared greatly for her people. The people of this planet lived in peace and harmony, sharing their knowledge of Space and Time with the rest of the galaxy...

Until one day a Dark Power rose up and locked the princess and all the planet's great knowledge away. He sought to keep it all for himself, to take over the galaxy, plunging one planet at a time into darkness.

Just when all hope was lost, a hero appeared from no where in the form of a young boy clothed in green. He wielded a blade that repelled evil and sealed the Dark One away, bringing the galaxy back to the light. This boy became known as the Hero of Time and his legend was spread throughout the Galaxy.

But the Dark One has returned, and the new princess of planet Hyrule has been locked away. The people now look to the stars for the return of the green-clad hero, who could save them from the darkness.

The Costume:

The costume was inspired by a couple of different things. I had a Lego Star Wars video game sitting on my desk along with both a couple of Green Lantern and Green Arrow comic books. Having Link's hat be more 'hood-like' came from the current Green Arrow costume. He wears a dark green body-armor suit with shoulder and chest protectors in silver and gold with emerald accents... and you know, arriving to protect a planet and save it from evil is kind of like a Green Lantern... er... hey, he's got the green going on. Right?

Disclaimers:

Link, Hyrule, The Legends of Zelda, etc. are (c) Nintendo. Costume design and back-story by ~appleworms .

I'm not certain if that's sarcasm or not. Either way, I probably could have spent a little more time on it than I did, but it was just for fun in the end.

What's Minish Cap? I'm going to have to google that...

Ah, okay... Gameboy. That would be why. No Gameboy here. But it's a continuation of the 'Four Swords' game... which I am familiar with. Hah hah. It should seem something like those, though it's sort of a combination of those, Star Wars (Come /on/ farm boy saves a princess from an evil dark one?!), and some other influences.

Thanks for the comment.

The sword makes a little difference- you know he had a car shop install some neon lights to the back side.

Anyways, I like the shading too- I normally don't agree with completely black shadow, but it gives it a nice american graphic novel look.

Heehee... yeah. Combat boots. It's like a warrior space guy necessity.

Hah hah! I've got a variation of this that I did were the sword is kind of glowing, but I posted this one instead. Less obvious.
