With his peaceful expression and soft snores, he resembled a giant, huggable teddy bear; the fact that his hair was down didn’t help too much either, because it only seemed to add to the adorable look.

Nonetheless, even if he did resemble a teddy bear, he definitely wasn’t acting like one – on the contrary, it was you who was acting like a teddy bear.

“I’m so thirsty,” you whined pitifully, squirming around in Ludwig’s strong hold. “Lemme go, Luddy! Wake up! I wanna get some water!”

The German didn’t even move, earning yet another whine from you.

For ten minutes you’d been trying to escape Ludwig’s arms, yearning for a nice cup of water to quench your thirst; however, much to your chagrin, Ludwig had a bad habit of cuddling in his sleep.

Well, you wouldn’t really call it bad – if anything, you enjoyed being cuddled by the normally I’m-not-very-good-with-romantic-gestures Ludwig – but in scenarios like this, you cursed his cuddly habits.

“Ludwig, I love you and I know it’s like one in the morning, but please, wake up.”

“…”

“Ludwig, I’m going to hit you.”

“…”

“Nevermind. I’ll probably break my hand trying. Now wake up and lemme go!”

“Oh my goodness…”

A loud sigh left your lips, though it wasn’t enough to wake the German as you struggled to pry his arms off your waist. Concluding that your efforts were futile, you instead reached for his blonde strands of hair, tugging on it gently in an attempt to wake him up.

“Luddy.”

You pulled.

“Luddy.”

You pulled again, and this time, his nose twitched.

“Ludwig Beilschmidt.”

His body moved slightly, earning a hopeful squeak from you until it quickly got smothered. “M-Mmph!”

Having unconsciously tightened his grip on you in his sleep, Ludwig had pulled you closer, your face now squished against his chest as you exhaled a sigh of defeat.

’Oh my goodness.’

At least you were warm. Being held by Ludwig was comforting and something you loved way too much, but good heavens, why didn’t you leave a cup of water at your nightstand?

“Ludwiiiiiig!” you groaned, “I’m thirsty! Lemme goooo!”

There was actually a response this time as Ludwig buried his face into the crown of your head, taking a moment to appreciate your presence before speaking in his half-asleep state. “Hush, dummkopf…”

“Did you just call me a dummy in German!?”

You could feel his chest vibrate as Ludwig chuckled, though the sound was barely audible as a yawn quickly dominated it. “Just… go to sleep, _____...”

“Not until I get my water.”

“Water can wait, liebling… Just stay still, ja? I want you to stay here.” There was a small whine in his voice, and if you weren’t trying to negotiate with him at the moment, you would’ve filmed Ludwig while he spoke because he sounded too cute.

“But Luddy…” Wriggling around once again, you pouted when you weren’t able to break free. “C’mon!”

“Tomorrow night, just remember to leave a cup of water nearby,” Ludwig muttered before swinging a leg over you. That was enough to render you useless, the chances of escaping Ludwig now zero. “Tonight, though, stay here.”

There were a few moments of silence before you finally gave in, deciding that witnessing the cute, out-of-character and sleepy Ludwig was worth your parched state.

“Fine,” you mumbled before snuggling into Ludwig, “But you owe me.”

The German merely hummed in response before pulling you closer, his lips placing a chaste kiss atop your head before yawning.
