Rainbow Deity colored with colored pencils. I must admit I was worried this would turn out looking a bit.... coloring book-ish, but I am quite pleased with the end result. Mixed-media is a fun challenge. I think I'll be adding color to more of my work in the future. Feel free to nit pick and critique as much as you desire as always! Feedback is especially useful considering my unfamiliarity with this particular medium.Related content

the coloring is awesome! even tho it seems so light at the same time it stands out !! which type of colored pencils were used? just regular ol' crayola? and what did you used to ink it with? ^__^ i love the charms that she's wearing also

I was using prismacolor colored pencils to color, and Micron pens to ink. I'm glad you enjoy the picture.

I did want to capture a pose that suited her, indeed. I believe the way I phrased it to myself while drawing the image was 'She needs to look like she's thinking "Buck yeah, I'm awesome"'

If it makes you feel better, I seem to be unable to replicate the exact look I managed since this piece. My other attempts at color pencil have come out with a much rougher texture. I do appreciate your kind words, however.

Nein, not yet at any rate. This is the first image in a series I am working on. I'm attempting to draw each of the mane 6 as a 'Celestia-esqe' goddess.

I love this take, and the soft, rough color from the pencils lends a texture to the piece which is remarkable... almost like fur.

No matter how much you go over it though it's always going to look a little "Coloring Book"-ish because your drawing Ponies!
Unless you go the super realism route with shading and lighting and all that stuff, it's gonna look cutesy. You can't escape it.
This, however, is amazing work. I'm super jealous I can't afford my own set of Prisma Color's to color my own drawings. All I have are crap-tastic Crayolas. Prisma Color Pencils cost 50$ for a set of standard colors. FIFTY...BUCKS... >:
I think my favorite part of this whole drawing is your variant on her tail. Very nice re-design and a refreshing breakaway from the standard look.
She needs some awesome earrings though. Earrings make everything 20% cooler.

Yes, I believe you are correct in that assessment. My concern however was that it would appear childish, a fear I no longer have. I quite enjoy this style and I believe I will continue with it for some time.
Also, I'm a cheapskate, I bought a small pack of their pencils. I lack most of the color spectrum! Hooray!
