One of the first times I felt compassion for a game character was finding him, dying, in Hyrule Castle.. Such an unforgettable moment, this piece really captures that fleeting feeling.

Right now, I can hear the Zelda Symphony rendition of that theme that plays when you're out in the rain. (I don't know the official title, but I do call it "A dark and stormy night".) Other than that, there's nothing I have to say aside from what's already been said. ALttP is the first Zelda I have ever seen, let aloneΒ played. And I was so young at the timeΒ that I didn't pay much attention to the tone that's presented byΒ the scene this picture depicts. (I must have been watching my Dad play it when I first saw this scene, however, but still.)

I tell you, this color scheme you used here really sets up the mood for one of the more action-filled wanderous beginnings in the series. While I wonder about the visible rain's absenceat the outdoor scenery, the lightning and the rain on windows do well giving out the rainy atmosphere glooming outside.
(Maybe I might also look deeper there but maybe the rain was somewhat of foreshadowing signifier on his dad going to be dead later by the developers?)

It's an awesome game! Definitely my favorite of the 2D Zeldas, though it's very hard for me to compare Zelda games, especially 2D and 3D ones because the play style is so different.
Thanks, that was the goal of the color scheme and I'm glad to know it works! Mm, there were originally actually supposed to be raindrops falling outside the door, but I thought they distracted from the lightning bolt so I left them out. I'm glad the rain on the windows does a decent job making up for it.
Perhaps, or at least a general omen that not all would be well, as dark and stormy nights usually are.

I started playing this for the 1st time this week! I'm in the Dark World and pursuing the 3rd maiden right now! Love this game but I can't stand dying in dungeons all the time!

Awesome, I'm glad you're enjoying it, it's such a great game! Yeah, it's frustrating to have to go back through the entire dungeon if you lose to the dungeon boss in the earlier games. I got frustrated a lot before I finally actually figured out how to catch fairies, which made dungeons considerably easier. I kept trying to use bottles on them because I was used to the 3D games haha.
