I love this portraits. In fact I love the way you seem to draw so easily and then as if by magic, the person appears in your pencil lines! I don’t know why, it seems to me that you just look at whoever you are drawing and then with just a few lines you have the essence of the picture and then just add ‘colour’ to it. A perfect moment captured before it’s gone. Brilliant. 😊

Worth admitting that these 'perfect moments' normally follow a period of massive generosity towards the paper recycling efforts of our household. I'm pleased with the ones that make it, but for each that does there are countless others that frustrate and grieve.
This one in particular was a lucky 'skatch'. Part scratch, part sketch, it suddenly comes together and you lift your hand to find the mass of lines has congealed into an image. Its a real antidote to the measured, careful (and, for me, generally less successfull) image-making that my lack of confidence pulls me towards.
One of the games I play with the kids is to zoom in on a detail and ask them to guess what and or who it is. If its a proper skatch, it'll be almost impossible to work out
