Description Thanks to all who've helped, nudged, encouraged and assisted in bringing this painting to light. Its far from finished, and has about 2 and a half hours work on it.

I've still got to flesh out her jacket, sort out the nose and lips, and generally polish the whole thing. I only realised at the end that I'd put my palette down on top of the buff-titanium tube. When I'm a bit more familiar with paint, I'll probably be able to recognise that I'm missing a tube and won't have to persist mixing all my flesh tones wrong

Still, I'm pretty happy with where I've got thus far...

No worries mate

If you'll excuse the shameless self promotion, did you catch the reworks here ?

I think the color in Evey's face are a bit too dark. But it's a minor thing. I really like to see how your skills evolve and you can be more than happy with the result so far ...

Howdo friend

I see your point on the colours. I think the issue is probably in the oddly linear bits of greeny grey around her nostrils and lip. Not entirely sure what I was doing there, and its always good to step away for a while

This is an awkward style for me. I'm not sure I like it as much as its more abstract predecessor , but I think I could prefer the finished piece if I'm able to develop my skills enough.

It's comments such as yours that really encourage me to improve and help me see where I'm going wrong.

Cheers.

Right path, perhaps, but dangerously close to that ravine... Must pay more attention to the road

Had a bit of crisis with this piece, lost my nerve and ended up reverting to drawing. This is closer to what was in my mind when I started.

Not to mention deeply cathartic.

Am glad something good came of it, and am promising myself to return to paint at some point. Next time, it'll definitely be black and white though

I can't believe so much time has passed and I still haven't had a chance to get the paints out. Life is crazy at the moment... All good things, but so many of them

Am thinking it might be quicker to try a charcoal piece out. I haven't got nice and messy in ages

Thanks Micah.

You know I'm indebted to you for getting this piece started. I'll keep at it and post back as soon as I've got something to show. It definitely needs work on the lips, and the fleshtones are, well, all over the darn place

Will keep at it though. Thanks for your support.

I have no doubt that it will turn out well. And you'll get those fleshtones nailed down.

You know... I'm beginning to believe you.
Thanks again for all the encouragement.

That's a fine painting you got right there (sorry to hear about the terrible lack of light hours.. I hate painting with artificial light myself).

Your first layer of her skin looks very pale and sickly.. I'd try to use a more pinkish tone to give the painting some life, but maybe that's just me
It's great to see your work in progress

I thought it best to share the interim stages as I'm getting so much advice and guidance on this through dA. I'm really grateful to the many deviants who've helped me get this piece underway.

I'm glad you can see some success in this, and agree entirely about the colours. I'm planning to rework this soon, but am a little worried about the opacity of the acrylics.

Oh well, I did it once, I can do it again. Nothing ventured and all that

Thanks for your comments and advice. I'll post the rework as soon as its done.
