It was a cute film. Not Oscar material, but I don't think they were trying to be 'serious' with this. I think the film-makers were just having some fun. I honestly didn't think i would like it, but I find myself watching it online and listening to the songs. I'm a major Elton John fan, BTW.
I have to say, I love the song, 'Hello, Hello'. It speaks volumes in explaining exactly the circumstances and personal thoughts and feelings of Gnomeo and Juliet both before and after they meet.

I LOVED this movie when I finally got to see it!
I don't know if you saw in the song credits, but Lady Gaga actually sang more than one song (with Elton John) her real name, Stephanie G, was used for the credits.
It was PERFECT for Lady Gaga to do most of the singing because she has her own room at Elton John's house plus she's the Godmother of his child.

No! But my sister did for GCSE, I kinda cheated with a bit Google Translate. We visit Spain several times every year, that's where I've learnt most of my Spainish from! XD. And I can't wait to go and see the movie tomorrow! FA

I will now bow down Elton John, I suggest going to see it! It's a amazing film, and it's the second one in two weeks that I've nearly cried at! (First one being Tangled) They do change the ending of Romeo and Juliet, and all of the sword fights are done with lawnmowers! Which is brilliant. The priest who marries them in the play is a pink plastic garden flamingo (I don't really get that part, and only know cause I read a critic review!). The sound track is fantastic.
I think that they've had to change the plot because, a Elton John quite rightly explained, "You can't have a sad ending to a kids film", but the way that they've done it is just so perfect and unexpected that it's really quite touching!
I suggest going to see it if you're a Shakespear fan, as they're a lot of in jokes. It's very nicely balanced with deeper parts for the adults counteracted with funnier parts for the kids. And even the Bard himself is in it!
As you see I enjoyed this film, it's one of my favourites! Please email back and tell me what you thought of it!
Hope the answer isn't too long!

i completely agree, its a wonderful movie. probably one of the best this year, and most definitely the best children's film. its actually the only one my nearly 2 year old daughter will sit through, and at the end she'll ask for more every time it ends, so i probably see it between once and 3 times a day. the music is wonderful, and everything comes together so well. i can't push this movie enough onto people. if you have to see something a hundred times, it may as well be this...

No problem, boo it's not in Spain till March? I was going to Spain with the family and was determined to see it with my little sis next week! Damn, yes, LOL, I want to see it again! This time I'm determined to catch all the references! I still can't believe that there's still NO fanfiction about it yet! BOO!
But definitely a must see, have you thought about seeing Tangled as well? Quick question, how's the weather down there at the mo! LOL, sounds odd but I can never remember what it's like down there at this time of the year, but hopefully you're getting better weather than England!
Do you write fanfiction? We could do a joint one if you want after you've seen the film? Just a suggestion, FA.
