Quick paintings of my favourite monster sisters ever
Stheno: the oldest one, the biggest one. Immortal as Euryale, but less nice. She has, as all of them, brass hands, sharp fangs, venomous snake hair and really, really bad temper
Medusa: the youngest one and the most famous. Medusa was born prettier than her sisters, but mortal. Because of this, she had the power to turn people into stone with just a gaze. Perseus killed her and used her head as a weapon, then gave it to Athena, who then wore it on her shield because it was very practical
Euryale: arguably the kindest one. She had some affairs from time to time... Also, she cried a lot when Medusa died

You know, Medusa really needs a break. She is always be written off as some monster when clearly she is a woman in pain from a horrible wrong. What she needs is her own movie, almost Disney like, but call it The Gorgons and has her and both her sisters trying to get their happy ending at last.Β

Oh, I actually imagined them as allies of Hades. My Hades is much different though. He's more of a misunderstood character.

Well everyone who actually understands the Real myths knows that Hades was the Nicest of all of the Gods. You know this.Β

Yeah, even though he's typically portrayed as a bad guy. But I think that stems from fear of mortality, or underworld misconceptions.

Well yeah. But there's something else they got wrong. They described Hades as Zeus' younger brother. When in reality, it was Hades who was the eldest, Zeus is the baby brother, if you read classic mythology.

Oh that is very true on every level and we know Zeus and Hera are the true villains of all Greek stories.Β

What an exotic style! Your characters flow so well with the movements they make. It's wonderful that they have such clear expressions and the body language to go with it.Β

Actually the Medusa-shield (which is called Aegis) would strike terror into those that looked at it. Not as creepy as being turned to stone but if you are on a battlefield and your opponent has the favor of Athena... watch out.Β

This rendition of Euryale is the most beautiful one of a Gorgon I've ever seen! It's amazing!! The twinkle in her smile is a nice detail...beware those pretty fangs! Brass and turquoise go so well together. Great job!

these are AMAZING ArbettaΒ . i am a complete Greek myth geek and your Greek gallery is AWESOME. Maybe you could try some of the heroes. theseus, heracles, hector, etc. would be sooo cool Β

I like how you drew their facial expressions. Most of the time, I'd find pictures of them as these horned, roaring monster things, but this is really original. Plus, they don't all look exactly the same, each of the sisters has a color palette and sort of ok that makes them unique. Stheno looks all high and mighty, Medusa's all like "The f**k you lookin' at?!", and Euryale has a scary yet friendly look to her. Thx for the drawing, keep it up Β

Very nice. The story I know is that they were born nymphs and got turned scary-ugly after Medusa got it on with Poseidon in Athena's temple, and Medusa was so ugly it turned people to stone to look at her because Athena hated her most. When she was killed, Pegasus was born from her spray of blood.

Nice! I would've thought Medusa would be the kindest since she used to be a beautiful woman who got turned ugly for being raped. Then again, maybe it made her bitter?
