Thanks for taking the time to comment.Β Β
Yes, well set up for the job. I love the look of this aircraft, and went in search of a less crowded place for some photos. Here, the Anson flew round the valley, banked in and I got the shot at the end of the runway, as it was coming in to land. I got a few during shutdown at the parking area as well. It was a great day. We have the Wanaka airshow every second year.

You got a gem of a shot.Β It looks as if it's straight and level and you're ahead of it in a staggered trail formation.Β (I did a lot of helicopter formation flying back in my Army days in Alaska.Β I saw similar views a lot as we flew the mountain passes.)

That sounds a pretty interesting place to do some flying! I only know Alaska from "Ice Road Truckers", and one candidate for Vice President.
Anyways, photographing aircraft was a new experience for me, and I was very pleased to get some shots that people enjoyed. Β

Really nice! It almost looks like an air-to-air shot!

Thanks very much! I got myself into a good position as it came in to land. Along with some flight shots, I also got shots of the taxi and shut down. I missed other treats, but got the Anson! Β

Thank you! I agree, the Anson is a beauty. Thanks for the links to the others; quite different in detail, aren't they... I was interested in the details at the shut down. This one had the rear gunner turret, and the cockpit really looked like a glasshouse close up.
I recommend the airshow; well worth it. I live in the region and despite my interest in aircraft and history, it was my first visit to the show... I've only just taken up photography and couldn't resist. I'll will be back next time. Β

Many thanks for that link; I always had a soft spot for the Hurricane. Brought up on stories of NZers in the the Battle of Britain etc. I was sad to hear that it had gone. Economy I suppose. There is also the Air Museum at Blenheim which does a show every other year. Also worth a look if ever you get down here.
I have been to the UK three times, and always concentrated on the naval exhibits you have there... together with the castles etc. Maybe I'll get there a fourth time.
I'll post a few more photos I took. Not sure how my image quality will stack up (yours are tremendous!), but feel free to advise me of any other DA groups that might appreciate my efforts. I did a search for groups to join, but it tricky to know really.

Well I'm admin on several aviation related groups so I will send some invites to you. I have both a P-51 group and Spitfire group so if you have shots from Wanaka of those particular aircraft they would be appreciated, especially the Al Deer Spitfire as I have not featured that Spit in the group yet.Β
