Looks pretty decent, however, I think that there are places where patterns are obviously repeated and it makes it look dodgy, so besides that I think it looks great!

I love this tutorial. I just finished making my Earth and it looks amazing! Can't wait to put some finishing touches on this to make it into a wallpaper!

OK, I do have two little questions: a) when I spherize my planet surface it gets blurry rather than remaining nice & crisp...
b) How do you 'mark' the planet? Do you cut it out with the magic wand tool and then fill it with black? Because if I do that & then apply glow, the textures below are no longer visible :s

To get rid of the blurry effect you need to have really big resolution like 4000x4000 or higher. Then when you use it in picture you will scale it down and the details will be just fine.
The marking of the planet - hold control key and click on the layer in the layer menu (where you see your planet like little picture - hope you understand it) when you fill it with black set the mode of the athmosphere layer to screen. In that mode the black goes invisible and you only see the glows. While you are working with the athmosphere controls it is better to set the shadow layer invisible (by clicking on the little eye infront of the layer) I will post to you some images later showing this steps

Ok thanks, part one worked out wonderfully!
But... I'm still at a loss as to how setting a black layer to screen will help me get that glow to appear just right. In any case, to show you exactly what is going wrong, here's a little screencap of what I get when I apply your instructions:

Athmo: [link]
Shadow: [link]
I don't know why your planet gets so dark even when the athmo layer is set on screen. If you have left the mode of the inner shadow effect on multiply it could get the texture darker but I doubt it. What have you done with the shadow layer? Have you stretched it after the blur?
Now I will try to explain the tut in few steps maybe you will get something.
1) Getting the texture and spherizing it.
2) Emboss the texture on second layer and set it to overlay
3) The athmo: copy the texture layer, mark it and paint it black. Set the mode on screen. Now you should have the layer invisible. Then you open the effects dialog and set the inner shadow, inner and outer glow till they get good.
4) Shadow: Make another copy of the texture layer and put it on top off all layers. Paint it black again. Then apply the gaussian blur and stretch it to get maybe for times bigger. I hope it is clear. Then mark the texture but with your shadow layer active. Push ctrl+shift+i to select the inverse and hit delete key to get rid of the shadow that is out of the planet
Hope this helps

Ok wait, I think I found the main issue here: my planet has been downsized to 400x400 pixels. So I have to change the values used here accordingly. And that's what went wrong! Sorry...

Харесва ми много! Обаче си мисля че щеше да е доста по ефектно ако имаше някое океанче или пък какъвто и да е по внушителен воден басейн
