Description

The folk of Arclund arrive fleeing calamity, yet rarely, time heals the gaping wounds of the Homeworld enough for another people to arise, or so the turtle-like Luai claim is the case when it comes to their own home.

Amakua, was a world of low-lying isles, tropical temperatures and copious amounts of water. It was idyllic on the surface, but was home to various predatory beasts and God-Made: the half-feral creations of the Luai Pantheon, made to challenge their resolve so the Old Stories say.

The Luai lived simple lives, fishing, hunting, honing their bodies against the wild trials of their world.

They raised few cities, preferring small mobile villages that could traverse amongst the Swift Trails, rapid currently that circumnavigated the world.

Life wasn’t easy, but it was good.

Until, as you can guess, it wasn’t.

The Brain Takers came in a hail of stone and fire. Shattering against the domain of the mightiest of the God-Made, a vast Crocodilian named Akea, the Scaled Island.

The Luai describe the Brain Takers as Crabs Made Wrong, yet it’s debated if that is their true form at all as their young were capable of infesting the bodies of those they slew and animating them as savage, unfeeling soldiers.

With Akea under their sway, they spread swiftly, using the vast being as a mobile beast, warping and twisting its great form to fit their needs.

Many of their kin rose to face them, all fell and as more and more of the God-Made were turned the more the hopelessness of the Luai’s grew.

Their last bastions were not at land but at sea, where the Brain Takers, deathly allergy to salt-water proved a boon. Yet the warped God-Made, many of an aquatic form never gave up their chase.

Those final days were tense and harried, but finally the Gods had seen enough. The Gods sank the world in a vast flood, caging the threat within their stolen forms in watery graves where escape would mean instant death.

Yet, the God Made resisted, and the Luai that survived the deluge saw their Gods descend to do battle with their warped creations before in an act of desperation they activated an ancient Way Gate, that had sat unused, and unacknowledged the creator a mystery lost in the rush and calamity on the last peaks, the last land that still created above the waves.

To Arclund they were ferried and so on Arclund they remain, yet the story of Amakua does not end there.
