DUDES, am I getting better at drawing hands or WHAT?! *shot*

Aaaanyway, this is the request won by placing 2nd in my contest: her character done in the SA style, whee! ^.^

Holy cheese, I had no idea what I was doing when drawing the original sketch of this. xD; What I draw and how I draw it is usually affected by what music I'm listening to at the time. (Music is one half of my life; you'll almost never see me doing anything without listening to one good song D: ) Most of the time spent working on this, I was listening to my favorite level/stage music for a video game ever: the music that plays for the Special Stage: Emerald Challenge in Sonic Heroes. *is still listening to it now* XP
Very energetic, very high-paced, and just really awesome, so it made me draw that hyped-up pose you see Jgirl in. =3
But yeah, I like her pose a lot. Actually, it's one of the only poses of mine that I'm satisfied with. ^.^

I spent more time on this picture than I normally do... 3 hours, just to get the lineart in check. I'm not sure why it took so long for the lineart, either. Half an hour more to get the basic coloring in, and about 5 hours more for the highlights/shading and figuring out the layout/background. Soooo, roughly 8 1/2 hours total. @.@; I swear to god, I do NOT understand why it took so long....

And even then, I'm STILL not satisfied with the layout! X3; I had no idea what to do for color scheme and the overall mood of the layout, since I don't know Jgirl very well.... But being the lazy butt that I am and not bothering to do any research, I just sorta started winging it. e.e
It was fun, though! n.n I played around with a few new tools in PSP as a result of not knowing how to arrange things; I learned how to space the lines in the background evenly, and figured out how to make them all wavy with a certain type of distortion effect. 83
I added a little bit of noise in there, too, if you couldn't see. Just because the purple background looked really dull otherwise.
The spotlights, I think, also contribute to the overall togetherness of the picture. Though that effect is nothing new to me. I also like how the text came out... With that wonderful little sun shape right behind! ;3

And for once, I'm happy with the coloring! It's not perfect, by any means (I screwed up a bit on her left pant leg, if you'd care to see, and the hair just doesn't look right at all e.e; ), but overall, I think it's pretty good. =3

And may I say your character was the most fun to draw ever, Jgirl? x3 Gosh, she just has the coolest design, ever! ;3
