Description Updated: 08/05/2010 @ 16:02

This is the final image from a two-part series looking at the passing of time and the effect it has upon the observer and the observed. It was produced for my final college project in rather short order, and therefore is rougher than I would have liked.

The title comes from the Age Of Silence track of the same name, and is rather appropriate given the subject matter that the release deals with as it ties nicely with the concept I set forward with my own research work.

Comments and feedback would be most appreciated, as I'm expected to include peer assessment in my final evaluation.

I'm glad that you find the title and piece working well together; sometimes I find myself agonising over the name of a piece for quite some time!

Likewise. It is indicative of meaning, in my opinion

The title is impeccable. As for your image - there is nothing 'hasty' about it;
it is so perfectly imperfect. Very well composed.

Again the half-glimpsed resolution of form, though this time, with no almost-center to anchor it, the image feels much more dizzying. It makes me think more of a memory bypassed and almost entirely forgotten than of a memory half-glimpsed. The almost-familiarity is disconcerting here...

It's good that you grasped the concept I was aiming for through the images.

There is a quiet gradient that moves the viewer's eyes from the top of the image toward the bottom, keeping an interest as the viewer steps back and takes in the image in its entirety. It's this gradient that creates a sense of movement. Coupling that with the velvety sweep of the exposure produces an intimate feeling of motion and uncontrollable speed.

The choice of black & white lends to a depth that couldn't have been achieved in colour; giving it the ability to impregnate the mind with memories, thus creating a personal attachment to the piece. Nevertheless, the image stands strong as a single entity; the abstraction invokes a barrier; quietly detaching itself from its viewer.

The photograph is not only visually stunning, but also successfully plays to its role: encompassing the passage of time as well as communicating privately and personally with its viewer.
