Description I've always liked the aspect of Optimus as a mentor and father-figure.
Jack, more than any of the other human "sidekicks" I can remember, seems to emulate him. Over the three seasons of the show, there's little things like his body language, where he looks for approval, even the way he says certain things.

In "Rock Bottom", Megatron seems to be aware of some sort of bond between Jack and Prime. Enough that he knows that threatening to tell Optimus about their conversation in the mines will shake Jack up.

Then when Magnus showed up and strutted around like he owned the place, did you notice how Wheeljack isn't as tense after Jack very firmly states that his is only a temporary command?

I really wish that the show had expanded on that more, instead of cutting off so early.

This is so true. TFP really suffered from a rare issue. The writers knew from the start that they only had the industry standard 65 episodes to work with and once the show got rolling they just had reams of plot to explore. There was no way to expand on it all so they just let a lot of good stuff slide. I do wish they had shown more of this.Β

They really seemed to be going somewhere with the "wow, Jack is so much like Optimus!" thing, too.

Maybe they Β can still make something out of it for RID. We can cling to hope...

I'm guessing it's been between 10 and 13 years from TF: Prime to RiD. (I think the show actually fits with the canon of your stories, come to think of it. Especially taking into account the weirdness with part of Optimus going into the Matrix and part of Optimus splitting off into the Well)

That....confused me a little when it was explained. Literally, we saw at the end of Predacons Rising that he "died". But now in RiD they're saying his spark, like....split in two? And he wound up being in two places at once? Or something? Um. What? I'm sorry, is that even lore legal? o.O?

And that is something I'm unconsciously playing on in my RiD story "Nature of the Beast." No spoilers though. Won't wanna ruin the surprise. Muahaha....

Well, I suppose a more rational explanation would be that Optimus Prime's spark went merrily on its way out of the Well and then was unceremoniously snatched by Micronus and his ilk to sit helplessly in their stagnant realm and "train" until they'd tired of his protests.
